Tiny but mighty
These are so good! They look so small but once wet they expand and work brilliantly. I was painting the grout in my bathroom and needed to wipe off the excess before it dried and these were perfect. I then cleaned the kitchen and sitting room and it was still going strong. 10/10

Biodegradable eco friendly sponges
The media could not be loaded. I received a pack of 6 ‘pop up’ sponges which arrived in a small box about the size of a pack or playing cards! Much smaller than my usual kitchen sponges. They have many pro’s:The company are trying to be as eco friendly as possible as you will have read by the product information. I’m addition they plant a tree for every pack sold.Easier to store than my bulky sponges.Do a good job of washing my non-dishwasher things.Bit a big ‘con’The pack of 6 works out as just under £1 per sponge but even with the eco credentials I’m not sure I would be willing to pay so much for washing up sponges I’m afraid compared, to my existing ones which are around 15p each 😬

Small but great
The media could not be loaded. I absolutely love the fact that you get 6 of these in a box the size of a credit card! It's mind blowing.Simply run under water and it expands quickly. It is half the size of my normally used sponge but I'm actually finding that I prefer this smaller size.Definitely impressed with this

Excellent biodegradable sponges, suitable for a range of cleaning jobs
This is the first time I have tried eco-friendly sponges and I was pleasantly surprised. When the packet arrived in the post, it was so small (not bigger than the size of a pack of playing cards) that I thought I had only received 1 sponge, not a pack of 12 sponges. When I opened the plastic-free cardboard pack, I noticed that each sponge was just a few millimetres thick, and they came in an assortment of soft colours – two sponges each in yellow, orange, purple, blue, green and red. When you soak them in water, they ‘pop-up’ to several times their initial size. The sponges are soft and so far I have used them for washing up non-stick pans and woks, and for wiping spills off my kitchen counter tops. I am not sure if it is the material they are made of (cellulose) but I have noticed that they seem to soak up much more liquid than the plastic based sponges I used to buy. Washing up dishes and non-stick pans also works well with these sponges but because they don’t have a rough surface on one side for scrubbing , it is necessary to soak pans and other dishes in warm water for a while before cleaning them. Just for info - Dr Hygi also sell scrub sponges. The price for one pack of 12 sponges came to less than 75 pence per sponge. This is of course more expensive than a pack of plastic sponges but the benefits outweigh the higher price. To start with, storage space for this pack of 12 sponges is minimal. They fit into a tiny space anywhere in my kitchen drawers/cupboard shelves, whereas the equivalent number of ordinary cleaning sponges takes up a whole drawer or cupboard shelf. They work just as well as plastic based cleaning sponges, and of course by using these biodegradable sponges there is one less addition to the ever growing problem of plastic waste, and that’s a great thought. In conclusion I can recommend Dr Hygi’s biodegradable sponges for various cleaning jobs around the house, and will try more products in their ever growing range of eco-friendly cleaning materials.

Brilliant idea – if your budget can afford them.
These are an interesting idea – cellulose sponges that come dehydrated and compressed so that they take up less space in the packaging and in your cupboard.I normally buy cellulose sponges from the supermarkets as I find they are brilliant for cleaning and very absorbent. However, these always come in plastic packaging. These have no plastic whatsoever and I've delivered in a cardboard box. This is great for the environment as cardboard is fully recyclable and therefore sustainable. To activate the sponges, you simply have to soak them in water and it doesn't take long at all for them to puff up to their normal size. They absorb well, are a good size for using in the kitchen, and they also have a little loop on the top of each one which gives you the option of hanging it on your tap or other place to drain. At the time of writing this review, they are selling at a prime price of £8.99 for a box of 12 sponges which makes them 75p each. This is almost twice the price than the ones you can buy from the supermarket (currently £1.30 for a pack of four) but I think that - if you can afford it – it's worth paying the extra for the convenience and lower cost to the environment as there is no plastic involved in their packaging at all!

Magic but still expensive
Maybe in ten years' time we will be buying these at the supermarket and thinking nothing of it, but currently at 75p per small sponge, we are a bit short of a breakthrough.Personally, I am already cleaning my worktops with microfibre cloths that go in my washing machine with the general wash and last for years, and clearing up big messes with a series of rags cut down from ancient cotton clothing. Re-use is generally much better in the waste hierarchy than recycling or composting when looking at reducing lifecycle impacts. So I am not sure this little box of biodegradable sponges made of wood pulp cellulose is entirely the answer to our prayers, even though it should reduce the amount of unwanted plastic washing up on beaches across the world.Texture is soft rather than abrasive, so worked well on my non stick frying pan. But didn't make much impact on the dried on porridge in my breakfast bowl. But all credit to them - now break into the mainstream. And they do expand like magic from something about the size of a playing card to something about the size of a standard small washing up sponge.

Wow!
The media could not be loaded. At first I thought this is a joke :))), but seeing how they absorbed water and grow in size totally changed my mind. Very good sponges and they don't remain as dirty as the regular ones after washing grease of tomatoes. Good value for money!
