Very Stiff Boot
My nephew likes the skates. He wears them for two-hour sessions and doesn't have any complaints. The boot is very stiff. I cannot tighten or loosen when I tie the laces. Adjusting the lower lace holes is not possible.

Great quality for a reasonable price
The negative reviews are incredibly misleading and uninformed for these skates. For the price you pay you're getting quality entry level skates that'll work for recreation and beginners up to any kind of beer league hockey if you want them for it.They are indeed stiff in the eyelets but that comes with every skate you get and they'll need a break in period. You don't need to heat them either (though it's a common method of expediting the break in period), just give them a very good tug and tighten as you're lacing them and keep skating and retightening over time and they'll get nice and formed for you.The blade guards are also only meant for protecting the blades during shipment and are not for general use, so their cheapness isn't a ding on their quality either.Overall I'm really happy with these skates. Riedell makes great rollerskates and figure skates and is a classic American brand with good service and quality.

Quality skates for skating fun (unsharpened blades)
I don't think anyone read the instructions but on initial wear you have to use a hair dryer or something with a lot of heat to heat the top of the boot up to make it pliable to shape to your foot and be able to tighten the laces properly. And it works. Then it's like having your own custom fitted boot. They still have to have a broken in period too. These also come with unsharpened blades which need to be sharpened before first use.I love ice skating but just for fun and these are a good quality pair of skates from a reputable brand. The sizing is correct with plenty of room. I have to double up on socks but these are for men of course, and they don't rub my toes. For the price I'm pleased, I just wish they were totally ready to go out of the box.

Definitely only for recreation but good for that!
My husband said he would not wear these to play ice hockey on a regular basis, but we have a homemade ice rink that he and others skate on once a week or so during the winter and these are great for that. Fit well, a little stiff but that's expected and will break in as he continues to wear them. The blade wasn't super sharp out of the box but we have a sharpener so not a problem but if you don't then you'll need to get them sharpened before using probably.

First time buying hockey skates
The boots are very heavy. Not much sole support. I added inserts and I’m making them work but I would have preferred lighter weight

Awesome Skates, Will Need To Be Sharpened
These are great skates! Comfortable, nice laces, and fit true. They just need to be sharpened.
