I eat them for lunch
I bought this rations to compare with Seven Seas and NGR-5. This one has the shortest shelf life, but, at the same time, several times cheaper per bar. I like NGR-5 for taste when mixed with water, but, when comparing with Seven Seas, I would say it is less sweet and less dry. Still, it is way cheaper than the other two, but, unfortunately, only about 2.6 years of shelf life leftWill continue eating them for my lunch and keep monitoring for more items from this company - they have products that are, like NRG-5, have 20 years shelf life, but I am sure they will cost way less than NRG-5

The perfect gift for Armageddon!
My intention is to keep these in a cool place, tucked away for emergencies *only*, and not to break open the packets when I have run out of biscuits and the shops are closed. At quoted £3.15 per unit (£125.99 total) it does seem quite a lot of money but 1) these food rations are meant to have a shelf life of 5 years and 2) when the Rapture arrives £3.15 per pack may seem a very reasonable price to stave off hunger. Each tin contains 20 bags and each bag has 200g of “energy bars”. These bars are actually biscuits (like shortbread) and there are four biscuits to a bag. So the unit price quoted is for 4 biscuits (950 cals). Two tins = (2x20x4) = 160 biscuits. Thus £0.78p per 50g biscuit. Each biscuit size is approx. 80mm x 40mm x 12mm.The packets are date stamped, which is good, so you can determine the shelf life of 60 months from this date. Biscuits supplied to me were only about a month old. I cannot tell if the product shelf-life claim is accurate but from the listed ingredients and the fact the food is vacuum packed in foil it seems quite reasonable. For my purposes this is simply a precaution. Although not cheap it is a reasonable investment for an emergency. It might be possible to achieve a similar level of emergency rationing for lower cost through sourcing energy bars elsewhere and packing them in an airtight container but for convenience this solution is pre-packed, ready to go. The tins provided look good but are possibly a bit over dramatic since any airtight container might have been equally suitable. I think for the size of the box delivered, and when considering my usual grocery shopping, it doesn’t look like a lot of food for £125.99 but as a one-stop-shop emergency backup it is possibly worthwhile. The principal is fine, a bit expensive though I think, so from me, 3 stars. Researching alternative long life rations does suggest these are on the expensive side, albeit in some nice looking tins. If one ends up using them though, I’m sure it will seem like money well spent! In the event of the apocalypse, if these fail to live up to expectations I will amend my review accordingly.

Taste OK. No after taste.
They taste just like the baby rusks I gave my kids 40 years ago. Instant flashback to happy times. Made me smile. No cloying after taste. They would do OK in an emergency as intended. Packaging is very sturdy and if undamaged will keep biscuit dry and oxygen free, so they should last longer than suggested. Each biscuit is shrink-wrapped then four vacuum packed in mylar bag.I've knocked off a star as the outer cardboard box and tin box were dented. It was the tin boxes that appealed to me. Amazon box undamaged.

WOW
What do you get for £100+ for some survival biscuits???Well you get literally £125 worth of gear. You get - 40 double sealed biscuits. In each silver pack there are 4 briquettes which are really well compacted and individually sealed. If you divide the contents it works out to be roughly just under £0.80 per biscuit.Packing is second to non, the tough silver vacuumed packed bag holding 4 individual bars. The metal military style push fit lid metal container. Really cannot complain.Taste?? What do they taste like ???Well the texture is pretty smooth so you would expect them to be really compressed and hard. Compressed they are but not too hard to bite into or break with your fingers. They taste like a child's Farley rusk or a weak tasting digestive. Somewhere in between I'd say.I don't think anyone can say they are not palatable however they are quite dry if you eat one without drinking water. The calorific value of each packet is enough for a person on a diet 1000kc and energy is good to keep you going at almost 2000kj per 100gms.

Not 5 years
Tins arrived ok, but 21months have already gone from expiry date. So only 3years left. Not what I was hoping for.
