Phantom (complete script with lyrics)

This purchase was excellent. I only wish this had more songs from the musical. However their selections were great, the main reason I bought this was because it had "You Are Music" my favorite song. I do wish it had "My Mother Bore Me", I would have loved to play that on the piano. Even though I do love Webber's musical more, I do enjoy this one. This shows Erik in a whole new light, it shows him more like Kay's Phantom, and I really love that Erik. These songs are catchy and heartfelt. I love how these songs have a more opera touch to them, and I love singing all those high notes. If you love this musical, the songbook is perfect for you!

This interpretation is completely different from the Andrew Lloyd Webber and different from the Gaston Leroux original. The recording alone makes the story hard to follow and I am one of those people who like to sing along with the recording in my living room so I wanted to definitely learn the words. The story I learned from reading the book that is in script from that the music is very enjoyable to sing and also that this story has again a different take on the Phantom's love story but still has a very deep emotional center.

Arrived in great condition. Thanks! I have been wanting this book ever since I saw the 1990 NBC-TV mini-series version of The Phantom of the Opera, but I couldn't find it.

The light pencil notes in my copy from a previous production make it so endearing to me. I love my product, it came quickly and in good condition.

I love this scripted. I am currently directing a portion of this play at college and I needed this script to do so this is an awesome play. It's NOT Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical,its Kopit and Yeston's Phantom and it's defiantly worth reading. The lyrics to all the songs in the musical are in this script. I am very happy I purchased this book.

I don't know whether to give 4 stars or 5, as that I'm still looking at the songs. The Yeston/Kopit play is a rare interpretation of Leroux's "Le Fantome" tale, as also is the Yeston/Kopit novel (more on that later) -- and the booklet full of songs came to me in very good condition, the shipment being obviously done with care.[EDIT: maybe I'm just being a bit of a fan right here -- I'm biased in favor of Yeston/Kopit's Phantom/Erik over the more usual ALW Phantom/Erik -- sorry, can't help my bias.](Yes, still in the process of looking at the music book, to learn the new songs -- and I'm keeping this music book.)Hoping to later get the Y/K Phantom novel (1970s) on which the late-1980s Y/K musical has been based upon.Hoping that some day there will be more and more Yeston/Kopit Phantom-related material that one could easily buy, including the complete libretto to Maury Yeston's musical "Phantom" and Arthur Kopit's novel -- and, of course, the musical recordings, both on CD and on DVD, featuring both Richard White and Charles Dance as "Erik Carriere" A.K.A: "Le Fantome".In other words, I want more Phantom-related Yeston/Kopit material -- please: More! I've seen this play personally, so reading through this book really helps me visualize it and holds the lyrics to all of the songs in the musical as well. However, it is not sheet music, just lyrics and lines from the production.

I gave this book as a gift so can't comment from personal experience. However, my friend, who is a performer, really was grateful for the book and has found it helpful in his work.

楽譜と知らず、ＣＤには歌詞がついていないので買いましたが、いいですね！メロディーを追いながら歌詞もわかるのでとてもよいです。ちょっと片手ででも弾いてみたくなりました。欲を言えば、全曲載っていたらいいのですが。「ｈｏｍｅ」「This　Ｐｌａｃｅ Is Mine」「You Are Music」「My True Love」「You Are My Own」「Melodie de Paris」この6曲が載っています。
