Empowering!
Having been a parent, grandparent, and religious teacher for 50 years, I see the value it would have been to have had such a workbook!! I'm delighted that parents and teachers NOW have this exhaustive resource to help teach and build kindness and compassion within themselves and give to others around them. The practical exercises and creative activities are easy for anyone to follow and instruct. In fact, my 94 year-old mother has picked up my copy and enjoyed the activities for herself! There is no age limit to the benefit of building emotional strength! It is evident that Lorraine Hobbs and Amy Balentine have a mission to give each child as many tools as possible to handle life's challenges in a constructive and engaging way. This workbook is sure to make a difference and be fun!Susan DeJarnette

Great information to share.
This workbook is truly needed to help parents, grandparents and teachers who are dealing with children who do not know how to deal with their feelings and act out in ways to get someone’s attention, someone who can help them cope, overcome and thrive. I am passing the book along to others as I hear their concerns for their children.

Self Compassion
This book was ok. I thought it would be more of something we could do in bed at night. It was a lot of exercises that required some extra materials.

Just Wonderful!
I wish I’d had this resource as a younger mom. I purchased this for my daughter who nannies and she LOVES it. It’s now a go to tool and a perfect gift for parents and kids.

Excellent!
We all experience big, hard feelings- even our kids. When those feelings come, it’s so crucial to learn what to do with them! As parents, we work so hard to teach our kids many life skills and learning how to acknowledge their inner experiences and how to respond in a kind and compassionate way is essential to overall development. As a mom of three little boys (ages 9, 7 and 4 currently) and as a clinical psychologist, I am so thankful to have this book to help me as I teach these skills to my kids. The exercises are simple to understand and explain, can be done in just a few minutes, but have a big impact! Although we haven’t finished the workbook fully just yet, it is helping my boys be more mindful of what they are feeling, thinking and sensing in their body. It is helping them learn to be more gentle with themselves when their big tough feelings emerge rather than mentally speaking negatively to themselves (in failure or when they do something wrong) and it is equipping them with tools they need to calm their body and mind and self-regulate.The exercises are fun and cute too! My boys have particularly loved the rainbow breathing exercise and use it all the time!In a world that seems to be much more high-pressure even for our kids, I am so thankful for this wonderful workbook to help guide us parents as we seek to raise an emotionally healthy next generation. Give yourself and your kids a gift and buy this book! You’ll love it!

Building Emotional Strength
A reality of humankind is that "hurt people, hurt people". As an educator of over 20 years and mom of two girls, I have seen this reality personally and professionally. Because of this, I appreciate any resource that can help guide both parents and children to develop emotional strength. When we have the skills to recognize our thoughts and how those thoughts drive our feelings we will be more likely to engage with others in a caring and compassionate way. This workbook provides 81 activities (with printable templates and audio tracks where appropriate) that build emotional strength to help kiddos understand big feelings.
