*Just had to put Blu-Ray in the title as the reviews for DVDs and Blu-Rays seem to be mixed togeter and it can be hard to tell the difference. Also, this is for the 2D version of the film. I don't have a 3D TV (sulk lol), though both versions are on the disc*I rented this out and really enjoyed it. Selene is back and doing what she does best... Ending anyone who gets in her way! Great action with some brilliant speial effects that really shine on Blu-Ray. Rated 18, it's a lot more gory and bloody then the previous films. A lot! The picture is perfect, very gorgeous, especially for a dark toned film. The surround (7.1 DTS HD Master Audio) sound is fantastic. It must be one of the best I've heard. Sounds popping up all over the room, and very loud ones too. I'm very impressed with both picture and audio! This is easily a reference quality film if you're got the right setup. The disc you put into your player has some nice artwork on it. I'm not a fan of plain discs. Also, I like the main menu. Some films you just get something basic like a picture and the choices below. Here you get nice background music and a bunch of brief scenes from the film playing on a loop. Then at the very start of the film there's a recap of the previous films which goes on for almost 1m 30s (27s) - so really in a way you're only getting about 1hr 17m. Which is why I waited for a price drop. For £5 this is my first bargin of 2013.

...steht auf dem Cover der Blu Ray bzw. ist ein Zitat von Evan Dickson, ich selbst habe alle Teile von Underworld auf DVD bzw. diesen Teil jetzt auf 3D Blu Ray und auch ich finde das sich Awakening definitiv mit Teil 1 messen kann doch warum ich nur vier Sterne her gebe werde ich gleich kurz aber ausführlich erklären.Zur Story :Awakening fängt Gott sei Dank mit einer kleinen Rückblende an was ich gar nicht mal so schlecht finde denn so werden nochmal auf die schnelle alle Teile zusammengefasst um nicht den Anschluss zu verlieren.Einiges hat sich jedoch in der Zeit verändert, die Menschen sind dahinter gekommen das es sowohl Lykaner als auch Vampire gibt weshalb sie mit der Ausrottung beider Spezies begonnen haben, Selene dagegen wird aus einer 12 jährigen Gefangenschaft aus einem Labor befreit und muss feststellen das sich die Welt wie sie Selene kennt mehr als nur verändert hat denn jetzt zählen nicht mehr nur Lykaner zu Ihren feinden, es gilt nun auch die Menschheit zu bekämpfen.Doch dem nicht genug, sie stellt fest das sie mittlerweile ein Kind hat und die Lykaner sind stärker denn je denn scheinbar hat die Ausrottung nicht zu 100% funktioniert...Awakening hat sich vier Sterne verdient :Man merkt dem Film an das hier viel mehr Budget zur Verfügung stand als noch in den Teilen zuvor, der Film wirkt Erwachsener, Düsterer und vor allem hat die Brutalität ganz schön zugenommen.1* - Die Story ist genial, sie ist nicht an den Haaren herbei gezogen sondern logisch nachvollziehbar und ergänzt alle zuvorigen Teile wunderbar2* - Wie schon erwähnt, mehr Budget = geniale Special Effekts die sich echt mehr als nur sehen lassen können3* - Kate Beckinsale Gott sei Dank wieder an Bord und sexy wie nie zuvor (ich sage nur Eiskammer !)4* - Action und Spannung sind grandios, langweilig wird es zu keiner Sekunde also 100% UnterhaltungswertUnd was ist mit Stern Nr. 5 ? :Den gibt es nicht aufgrund der unverschämten Spielfilmlänge, auf dem Cover steht eine Laufzeit von 88 Minuten, wenn man bedenkt das am Anfang erst einmal ein Intro von Schrift usw. zu sehen ist inc. dem oben genannten Rückblick, sind da schon einmal 5 Minuten weg doch als bei exakt 1:18:00 der Abspann über den Fernseher lief, ist mir echt die Kinnlade herunter gefallen, ich hoffe DAS ist nicht die Zukunft von Underworld oder gar von anderen Filmen, man muss sich vorstellen das man gerade mitten im Filmfieber ist und auf einmal ist alles vorbei obwohl man den Film hätte locker noch ausbauen können aber das restliche Potenzial wollte man sich scheinbar für den nächsten Teil aufheben der definitiv kommen wird - von mir aus gerne aber bitte doppelt so lange !.Der 3D Effekt :Der lässt sich sehr gut anschauen und ist auch Klasse in Szene gesetzt jedoch sollte man sich dessen bewusst sein das der Film nicht kontinuierliches räumliches sehen verspricht, des Öfteren ist der Film ohne Tiefe aber wenn ein 3D Effekt auftritt (was oft der Fall ist) dann hat der es auch in sich, Glassplitter fliegen einem entgegen, Wurfsterne schießen in Richtung Zuschauer, das lässt sich alles gut ansehen und hier ist die 3D Version auch wirklich den Kauf Wert, dennoch kann ich nicht nach vollziehen warum gerade die beste Szene auf der Straße mit dem Auto und den Lykanern nicht in 3D umgesetzt wurde aber okay.Die Blu Ray :Das Bild ist Perfekt, der Sound ist FANTASTISCH, in jeder Sprache liegt ein 5.1 True HD Sound vor und das hat sich natürlich während des Films bemerkbar gemacht, alle Leute die im Besitz eines 5.1 Systems sind, werden bei diesem Film mehr als nur verwöhnt und der Subwoofer dröhnt an 2-3 Stellen so was von gewaltig, das es einem fast die Birne weg bläst.Die Extras sind okay aber nicht weltbewegend, zusätzlich befindet sich folgendes Material auf der Disc :+ Kommentar der Filmemacher+ Versprecher (unbedingt anschauen !:) )+ Musikvideo ; Lacey Sturm feat. First of all I must admit that I am a huge fan of this franchise and so can't really give a review for ppl that have never watched any of these movies, as I am sucked into that fictional world already. For the ppl that haven't seen any of these movies I would just recommend to watch the first ones and make up your mind yourself if you are into this genre and world or not. It would also be better to understand this movie as it does build further on it.When I read alot of these reviews most of the ppl say the storyline is rubbish and unworthy for the franchise. All I can say to you guys is, I respect your opinion but what on earth did you expect? Underworld has never really had a brilliant storyline. Yes the first one had quit the story but it was the first one and everything was new, the world , the characters, the way things were done. So alot of story was told in that one to put the franchise on the map. Underworld has always been about Kate or Rhona Mitra (in the 3th one)looking good, a story filled with action and that is what ppl loved the most. Anyone that says they only watch the movies because of the brilliant and deep story are watching different movies... and if you are looking for a vampire thing with a brilliant story I would say go and watch True blood, alot of twists and interesting characters.Now about this movie. In my opinion it did deliver most of what was promised. Action wise it has never been better, the kills just gave me OMG moments, overall it looks better ( especially on Blu-ray). The story as said before isn't really like story of the year, but it's not as bad as alot of ppl say. It won't keep you on the edge of your seat but It won't give you a feeling like, really that again neither? ( like alot of action movies do these days). There are actually some moments that will surprise you... .Why did I not give it a 5? It's short, really really short, wich was bit disappointing, it's about 79 minutes runtime, although it says 89 minutes on the box, but the last 10 minutes are just the credits. The first one was over 2 hours and it's getting shorter and shorter, so a movie with this kind of budget should have had a longer duration. This can be turned around to be a good thing by saying it was good enough that I wanted more but I don't accept it like that.In short: If you like the underworld series because of what it is, a relative good story, packed with loads of amazing action and Kate looking better then ever before, then you will like this movie. If on the other hand you only liked the first underworld cause that had alot of story to it, cause of reasons mentioned above, then you might not really like this movie and you should probably just rent it.Thanks for reading and don't be afraid of the lower rated reviews, everyone should make up his/her own mind. This is an Okay attempt to keep the story and franchise going but it really does miss the punch of the first three movies and especially the second outing which I think is the best of them all, my hopes were raised a somewhat by the introduction of a huge never been seen before werewolf, but alas Kate dispatched it with what seemed to be an ill thought and panicky move, it was as if they brought in this ultimate werewolf to finally give the lycans (Who I always want to win) a chance to finally beat what is left of the vampires and then thought 'Oh, how do the vampires win now, how can this think be killed, oh yeah that'll do' I wasn't convinced. I was also not convinced by the 3D version either which seemed to lack the high quality effects of other 3D movies such as Fright Night and Avengers Assemble. But if you like vampires and werewolves and you love to see them fight then you should enjoy this. At least these vampires don't sparkle and take dull teenage girls away from their parents.

Went and seen the film tonight opening night at the cinemas in 3D was an awesome film from the opening it was non stop action and awesome 3D effects.(Kate Beckinsale) is hotter then ever and in outstanding form as Selene and kicks arse harder then ever in the Awakening.The film has a simple story which is a continuation of Underworld: Evolution set over a decade in the future. The one and only thing people wont be happy with is the films run time of 88 min but i get the feeling the reason they made the film cover such a small portion of what could have been a mammoth length, is due to the fact characters from the previous installments may have been to busy to reprise their roles the main of them being (Scott Speedman) who played Michael in Evolution.There will no doubpt be a continuation of this film, i hand down recommend this film to be seen on the big screen and defently in 3D & will without a doubpt be on my Blu-Ray 3D collection.Get off your arse go see it, love it, then buy it !!!
