Great book
bought for my dad - he loved the book, said it was funny, insightful and a great read. Turned up really quickly and for a second hand book was in immaculate condition.

Cricket umpire extraordinaire, and a gent too.
Memories from a legend who stood for hours concentrating on a sport that is a passion me some, but for others is the appitamy of boring.Dickie has the memory of a genius to recall his life in sport in such detail and I believe lived through an era of great players and characters from whom he has taken much of this book.Well written I felt like I was listening to him talking with me over a pint relaxing in his local pub. Truly a good man who youngsters would do well to take notice of his determination and commitment to achieve hisgoals.

80 Not Out. Interesting and well written.
An interesting and well written book about the sport, of which I have always had a lot of interest, over the years.Dear old Dickie Bird was my favourite umpire of all time and always will be.I would recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in the game of Cricket.I have the first book Dickie Bird wrote on the subject of umpiring cricket.

Great book for Cricket fans
I bought this book as a Fathers Day gift for my Dad who is a huge cricket fan and has read pretty much every cricket book ever written! He thoroughly enjoyed the book. As its just little anecdotes he was able to pick it up and put it down without loosing his place. He finished it over a weekend and would read it again!

More from Dickie
No surprises - Dickie in his usual reflective mood. If you have read his other books you know what to expect. Easy read to brighten the winter months.

You can take the man out of Yorkshire .... !!
What can I say ... it's our Dickie ... you knew it would be good ... but this is brilliant ...It's almost as though you were sitting in his front room and he was talking just to you over a cuppa ... ! Highly recommended and not just because I'm a Yorkshire lass ... !

The Legend lives on
Dickie Bird is a legend in the world of cricket and this book is no exception. Perhaps not as chock full on facts as his others, it still delights with manny cricketing anecdotes. Cricket needs more characters like Dickie!
