Damper than what?
This pedal is very useful. It turns whatever it's plugged into off and on, by means of downward pressure of a foot. I plugged it into the neighbour's dog and it stopped barking. I plugged it into my bank and money stopped leaking out. You name it, I've plugged it and stopped it. But the beauty of it is you can start it again too.

Works great with my old Roland drum pad.

It works -- on or off, with no subtlety -- but be (very) aware that polarity matches. If you don't check, you may find it works in the opposite sense to what you expected, and it's not always possible to change it. Do don't do what I did, which was take it to a gig without trying it first. Not only is this embarrassing, it also encourages nerds to swarm around you all confident they can sort it out.

This item didn't even work with my keyboard. The moment I plugged it in, my keyboard recognised it as being pressed down, so I had the opposite of a functioning sustain pedal. I had to press it down to turn off sustain. It doesn't feature a polarity switch to reverse this, so it will only work with some keyboards (bearing in mind my keyboard is a Casio, so hardly an obscure brand). Furthermore the product feels cheap and not really of very sturdy construction, as I had to keep tightening the screws on it to stop it falling to pieces, despite the fact I hardly used it.
