Provides a strong light at night when I need to get dog in from the garden. Good quality with a handle that makes it easy to use. Not too heavy either.Good for camping too.

Lasts ages on one set of quality D cells. Light distribution is superb. Stands on its back and shines on the ceiling for emergency room lighting. Tough case. Outdoor use is great. Floodlight with a definite aim for the centre beam. I've got 3 now. Wouldn't be without them.

The torch is very lightweight and you get a feeling that it is of poor quality. Most of the weight is in the 4 D batteries. However, for the price which includes 4 D batteries, it's a great torch. The LEDs give off a bright white light, better than some more expensive krypton torches. Not tested the battery life properly but I expect them to last well given that LEDs are much more economical with the batteries than krypton or halogen bulbs. The beam is not as wide as some but its quite bright at the periphery making it a much more useful light.Very difficult to convey how well a torch performs, but to give some sort of idea, I found the brightness to be as good if not better than the Varta Industrial Lantern and a 2 million candle power halogen torch.This is not a particularly rugged torch and I don't think its quite heavy duty. Woth no protection of any kind, I don't think it would survive unscathed if dropped on hard ground, but its lightness and performance makes this extremely useful and good value. Very happy woth this purchase.

A bright torch that comes with the batteries. The included batteries aren't very long-life ones so if you use them extensively, they will run flat fairly quickly, so I recommend having new set of batteries ready. They take the standard D type batteries that fit into a 'lantern style' battery case, so finding replacement batteries is easy, as well as batteries being very easy to replace.It looks rugged in the photo but the body is made of fairly thin plastic material, so it is not a ruggedised torch. It can take a bit of rough handling, but if you drop it onto a hard surface, it is likely to crack. However, the handle provides a secure hold and generally very easy to use.Overall, it's a very good product for the price (£9 for a good, bright lantern) so I have given it a five star based on its cost/performance.
