VellemanK/MOWM Assorted Full-Core Mounting Wire Kit, Multi-Colour

I had quite a lot of hookup wire before Maplins closed their stores, but lately the stockpile was running low. So I was very happy to find this item as it has a good selection of wire colours and they're all solid core and so ideal for use with breadboards and strip/vero boards. And all good quality so I should be able to keep making small electronic prototypes for a while again now :-)

I was considering getting one of the wire kits that has the wire on spools, but opted for this as there were more colours available. My intended use was to replace the flexible jumper leads supplied for breadboard use with colour coded wiring cut to size and shape to give a neater look to ongoing breadboard projects. The jumper leads are great for getting a prototype working quickly, but tend to get in the way of displays, switches, etc., and generally look messy anyway. Once the basics of the circuit are sorted and debugged, replacing the jumpers with point-to-point wiring that can be bent to route around obstacles and retains its shape looks a lot neater and makes it easier to further extend the project without getting tangled in a tall forest of wires.The larger variety of colours (10 corresponding to the colour codes used for resistors) makes it nice and easy to assign specific colours to things like clock and data lines, in addition to the obvious red and black for power. In that regard, I was pleased to find that the length of red and black supplied was at least double that of the other 8 colours given that just about everything on the board will need power connections.This should last me quite a while, but when supplies run low, I will be re-ordering this item.

A nice selection of hook up wire for breadboarding and projects. I didn't realise this was single solid core wire though, it's not stranded so whilst it's fine for permanent hookups and breadboarding, I would not recommend it for anything that requires constant movement as the wire could eventually break off. Easy to strip though and a nice selection of colours, what more is there to say?

Copper cores with a variety of shielding colours mean this set of wire will serve you well for all manner of electrical projects. Good quality and takes silver solder very well.

Exactly as I expected, they work well and the range of different colours have been very useful.

I have bought several spools of budget wire and wasn't that happy with it. This stuff is 24AWG and just feels chunky in comparison. It is easy to use and the range of colours is great. It is single core so you probably shouldn't keep flexing it.

Seemed a bit expensive, but when compared to buying wire individually adhoc makes sense.Easy to strip, but as expected care needs to be taken not to stress the exposed wire too much, it will break if handled too much.In case anyone is wondering it's 24 AWG gauge
