It's a bit noisy at time the least movement you hear crackles apart from that be still works a dream

I bought this Mengshen® Highly-Sensitive Mini Spy Microphone to locate noisy plumbing in our house and needed it before a plumber arrived so we were prepared to pay the inflated price for Prime next day delivery despite other reviewers warning against it.I think my device is faulty as I get constant loud buzzing over the sound it picks up. It's the same buzzing you get when plugging a guitar into an amp with a poor connection. The volume knob is loose and if jiggled the audio will drop out. The device is also sensitive to how you handle it and will make scratchy noises that will hurt your ears if you aren't absolutely perfectly still against a wall or floor. It even picks up your fingers touching the device. It seems there is poor vibration isolation between the probe and the outer housing. We didn't buy this for spying but out of curiously my fiancée went in the next room and talked normally to see if I could hear. I could hear her but couldn't make out what she was saying, but we have brick internal walls and it does say that this device isn't suitable for that.Mengshen did get back to me within a few hours regarding a return but to be honest, for the price I paid I'm not prepared to go through the hassle of returning it and will put it in the recycling bin.As others have said, if you are prepared to wait I'd suggest you buy cheaper without prime so you're not so out of pocket if you get a faulty one like me.In the end, we found our noisy plumbing the old fashion way of pulling up floorboards, but this device might have saved us some time if it worked.

No good too much noise in background

We've been having issues with finding a rat's nest in our house for months. Had bait put down and this killed most of the population but we couldn't find were they are laying down their nests. The device did find them after a good hour of listening through the attic walls, floor, walls we found that they had been nesting in the foundations of the kitchen. And have also found were they got in so pretty good. I would have given a 5 due to the pleasing result but it is pretty scratchy with its noise.

Not sure what's going on with the bad reviews, this mic does what it's supposed to.Yes; it's cheap material, and the supplied earbuds feel like some sort of torture device (remember early cheap earbuds in the 90s?) but the device works well.Make sure to place it on as smooth a surface as possible. The mic is incredibly sensitive, so any movement while holding will also come through. Also there will be a buzzing if you have it plugged in while using it.I've been able to pick up great audio through a double chimney-breast wall.

Disappointed with the gadget, it is flimsy and not worth the £11.95 I paid . It works but you have to have a very steady hand to hold it very still or you just get muffling sounds. There are many of the same gadget from £3 + which is what it is worth.

This device picks up a number of sounds including a loud hum . loud sounds that are the extremely slight movement caused by one's fingers holding the device, the slight variations of tension between skin and the device, all being very loud crackles and explosive audio effects and if one can differentiate between all this and any other sound you just may be able to hear that which is intended...but it will not be clear.I previously had one of these devices which unfortunately got damaged and that one was fine but this one is a disaster. It seems to be a hit or miss affair whether you purchase one that works as desired or not. If you are prepared to gamble the few pounds it costs fair enough but do not be surprised when it fails to perform as desired.My primary use for this incidentally is listening to mice nesting in a compost bin through the sides of that bin. These field mice are delightful little creatures. While the one I previously used was brilliant here this one creates the sounds you may hear amplified of a herd of elephants grazing on foliage and then stampeding through trees...not the movements of a family of small rodents amongst soft vegetation.Very disappointed but for the price ...it is a gamble.

I found out that not only can you listen through walls you can also listen very well through floors I live in an upstairs flat and I can hear below me pitch-perfect this is a great product to purchase
