Dragon Ball Z: Season 5 [Region 2]

Bluray steelbook despite format being DVD
At the time of this review the listing allows for the selection of DVD or Bluray formats. Changing to bluray switched to a listing of the regular non-steelbook version.Took a risk ordering the DVD format given that the bluray steelbook image was used and was glad to see it was in fact the bluray steelbook that turned up.Great product and matches the rest of my collection, but the confusing listing lets it down, hence the 4 stars

On the next episode of Dragonball Z!
As someone who grew up watching Dragonball Z religously on Toonami, I've been buying these boxsets obsessively. As is often pointed out, despite it saying the DVDs are region 1, they are in fact multi-regional and will work on any UK DVD player. Plus they're uncut and feature the original Japanese dialogue and music (although personally I prefer the English voices and Bruce Falconer's music - but that's just me :P)This season is not as great as some of the others - it can drag a little. Androids drive around a bit more in their hardcore pink van, Cell comes, people panic and yell "Goku we need you!", Vegeta ruins everything with his ego, Trunks has some long flashbacks and that's about it in a nutshell. That's not to say it's not good, it is, but it does leave a little more to be desired - this may also be due in part to the fact that it's a LOT shorter than the other seasons and ends pretty suddenly. There's still six discs, but to make this shorter season fit onto six so it's in keeping with the rest of the boxsets, most of them only have three episodes apiece, so they're just under an hour long each - leaving you sitting there thinking "It's over already?"If you're a Dragonball Z fan buying up all the boxsets like me, obviously you'll still love this - just be prepared to want to buy the next boxset almost immedietly as this one is too short. I'm wishing I bought them both at once, so I don't have to wait for the next one to be delivered. Cell Games, whoo! :D

amazing show and amazing HD print of the show (amazing 5.1 english sound with Japanese soundtrack) shame about the voice actors
great show and the quality of these HD reprints is amazing, even now these dvds look like bluerays thats how good the print is, the show is just amazing and ive always loved this, this season starts off slow builds up and then seems to go on foever and then has awsome parts then leaves you wanting the next season.my only snag (for me anyway) is its just shame the funimation voices aint as good as the ocean voices, but i do like the fact the sound is in 5.1 (and it sounds amazing) considering its using the japans mono audio the cleanup of both sound and music is amazing i just feel the voiceover work isnt as pashionat nore sound as amazing as the ocean voices, as an alternative you can listen to the origonal mono audio with the japanise voices and the subtitiles get all the lines right too.so in short the HD remaster of both sound and picture makes for an amazing show that can now be seen and heard the way it was ment to be... just not acted out in the right voice dub (Ocean voices instead of the funimation ones would be the ultimate re-master of the show)

Dragonball Z
To start I recommend buying this if you are a fan of Dragonball Z (being my favourite anime it was a given). My only issue with this box set and series 6 (I bought this with 6) is that they are different to the others. To explain; a while back I collected series 1-4 and they came in sleeve style boxsets with an open, fold out book style box that came with a little booklet with character descriptions of the characters at the present time in the box set bought along with episode summaries of the episodes included; this box was not like that it was just like a typical box set (like a thck DVD case) without the booklet which has messed up my set since the other series (1-4) have an art piece on the bind of the case that once all pressed together would spell out "Dragonball Z" (if you had all series - 1-9). Now I am not saying that this is a bad set, buy it for the Dragonball experience but if you bought any of the older box set's before they were re-released they won't match up with these new ones unfortunately.

dbz season five
a great season,+ for anyone who doesnt no these boxsets are all multi-regin and work on anything, dont rlly know wat dat guy sayin bout being incomplete ?, only bad thing is how weak they make the androids look in this season, it starts with trunks & gohan finding trunk's timemachine wich cell stole of trunks in the future to come to the past to absorb androids 17 & 18,piccollo,16 & tien give cell a bit of a challenge, eventully cell becomes complete with some help by vegeta, love the music (us version) when cell becomes perfect, cell easilly defeats accended vegeta, and trunks is to slow after they both came out of time chamber, finishes with cell aranging the cell games, while goku & gohan in da time chamber, cant wait for season 6

Just buy it!
I love DBZ and just purchased the entire original collection, before someone decides to take it out of the market and only leave available the new "Kai" version. I need my never ending Friezer battle as it is and not shortened out. Wish the Japanese version had more sound options.
