It took a bit, but then I was sold!
Very glad that I kept with this one. I saw it rated highly on TikTok and decided to give its try with kindle unlimited. Well, I just devoured it in one sitting! Our protagonist, Kayla, is fun to spend time with. She’s relatable without being an overbearing cliche. Our love interest, Aiden, keeps her (and the reader) on her toes throughout the piece. And the tension remains high throughout, leaving you guessing as to who the antagonist really is.I thought I would find this predictable. I didn’t.I thought it would be a standard bad boy romance. I didn’t expect the suspense/thriller element (though admittedly I didn’t read a single piece of the description other than the 🌶️ category, so that’s on me!)The 🌶️ was very well done and fun each time. I always wanted more! The focus is primal play, with a healthy emphasis on consent, safe words, and safer sex practices. The author mentions a full list of content earnings available on their website, though I didn’t check to see what it included. (There’s a fair bit, but for the readers about us— you know who you are— it’s not bad at *all*)The plot’s pacing was interesting, but ended up making complete sense by the end. I genuinely wasn’t thinking it was going to be this good until 80% of the way through. Then suddenly my jaw was hanging open and I was sitting up in bed, crying.🌶️🌶️/🌶️🌶️🌶️Don’t get me wrong, the scenes are GOOD, there just aren’t quite enough to satisfy me. I don’t mind slow burn, but since this story (rightfully) gives time to other areas of the plot, it means our spicy encounters are pretty limited. I would have liked to see them get to explore their dynamic a bit further. (You know, for science).👻/🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈I’ll admit it, this one is very straight. Not everything I’m going to read will be queer, and that’s alright! I would have loved to see a bit of diversity within the characters, as the story is set near Seattle, a diverse area. Thinking through the story now, I don’t believe we see *any* character who is either a BIPOC or queer. 0% is… well, rather low, so let’s aim for better here.Read this if you enjoy an unpredictable plot, have a primal kink, or have ever wished that your handyman would ravage you 🔥Skip this if you hate stories involving supernatural elements, want your 🌶️ early and often, or if the pet name “bunny” gives you the ick.

Could not put this book down!
Wow. Just wow. The ending alone was not what I expected. The fragmented pieces that fit together and concluded in an explosion of truth, pain, confusion, clarity and consequence all combined together to create a truly beautiful dynamic of life, love, death and tragedy. I read this book in one sitting. I could not stop. I would recommend anyone to read this book especially thriller and mystery prone readers. Not only was this an "on the edge of my seat" type book but also truly a book that makes you think and appreciate its depths as you dive into the pages. I will be purchasing! Also, Thanks to the author for such a creative mind deserves to be acknowledged. -*Queen.

twisty paranormal suspense
It will be hard not to spoil the twists when reviewing this book. You do not get a complete sense of the type of book this will be from the synopsis. I thought the “pen pal” would be more prominent in the telling of the story. I thought the story would be a mystery about who this Dante prisoner is. It is a vital element but not the focal point, not how I thought it would be.Since I don't want to spoil the book, I write how I felt reading the book. I felt like I was playing the board game Clue. I was decoding and guessing throughout the book as if I was reading a who done it.Does Kayla have a stalker? Are there ghosts? Who is the guy behind the tree? What was the motive of this person or that person? Does Kayla have dementia? How bad does she look to make people ask her the same question? Is she losing it because she is grieving? Where are the bruises coming from?If you like the spicy Romance, I’d say it's there. I enjoyed them together, but I am unsure how I feel about the chase scene in the woods. 🤷🏻♀️ not my thing. I am more focused on why she doesn't mention her husband is dead to Aiden. What's going to happen when Aiden and Dante cross paths? In some ways, it reminds me of a less spooky version of the sixth sense. Especially when the housekeeper and her sister finally get involved.I felt like I was part of the Scooby gang solving a mystery.

Heartbreaking
This story broke my heart. It absolutely devastated me. I want to scream that it's not a romance. And still, I see the love story between Kayla and Aiden.Be prepared to cry. I've been crying over this story for most of today. And I'll probably be crying over it for the next week.I want to say the story sucks but it clearly captivated me. This one will probably stain my memories and crop up in my mind when I least expect it. For that alone, kudos to the author. For Kayla and Aiden... I'll be dreaming of your happily ever after and my dreams better make it amazing.

3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ✨ Paranormal Romance?
This is the second book I’ve read from J.T.Geissinger and hadn’t realized it till the end. I read Perfect Strangers and wasn’t a fan. Now when I started reading this book I went in blind didn’t read reviews or nothing. I wasn’t really expecting much Judging the Book by its cover.I loved the beginning man it was so well written and funny got me hooked. Then I realized it was some kind of dark paranormal and BDSM type of book ok not a problem let’s see how it turns out. Got to 45% in and it suddenly it became repetitive and it dragged on I even started getting annoyed by the FMC her jokes were not hitting the mark anymore.Another thing about the author that I think misses the mark for me is the whole BDSM sometimes it doesn’t work specially in a story like this. Yet it’s second book with kink in it. 🚨 Spoilers 🚨Then the whole thing turned into the movie The Others and I started to get exited again but like in the other book the ending was not good at all very anticlimactic. This author knows hot to get you hooked at the beginning but for some reason she can’t retain my attention and the end is just blah.I think one of these days she will have that book that will just break me and give me a big book hangover.

Pen Pal - J T Geissinger
I wish I could give more than 5 Stars.I’ve not read this author before but I’m going to raid by book buying source until I find more of their work.First let me say this is not MM story, I thought it was, and I loved the cover too. However, the story had gripped me by the time I realised it was MF. So I kept reading. OMG. I am loving every word. When Kayla’s home starts to need all kinds of repairs she doesn’t know what to do. She is still mourning the death of her husband. Eventually she calls the people she needs to repair the leaking roof, the faulty electrics, etc. She thinks they are all crazy and sends them away, but they come back. Eddy, the pot smoking Electrician and Aidan the specialist roofer. When weird sounds and movements in the house scare her and letters keep turning up about the house she think she is heading straight to the Psych Ward. The letters are addressed to her from a man in prison called Dante. In her crazy wine infused confusion she starts replying to these letters and receiving more in return. After a crazy bargaining session with Aidan the Roofer, he comes to fix the problem. But oh boy, he seems to have fixed a lot more than the roof. They start a crazy passionate steamy love affair. Aidan has his own issues but he helps Kayla and wants more.Alone at home, cupboards open and close by themselves, items fall from shelves, lights flick on and off of their own accord, a mysterious child plays in her back garden, a man spies on her from behind a tree in her garden.Like any half crazy person she calls on more crazy people for help, Tarot Card Readers, Physics and holds a Seance. So yes, this is not just a MF Romance, it’s Ghosts, Stalkers, mild Dom/Sub, Mental instability, loss of loved one, a murder (off page), Tarot Readings and Seances.I couldn’t put this one down, even when the gut punch came, I had my cry and kept going and wished for the HEA.Highly recommend ‘Pen Pal’ by J T Geissinger, you won’t regret the time it takes to read this engrossing tale.

What a ride!
J.T. Geissinger... elle nous entraîne toujours à la suite de ses héroïnes et on y croit à fond avant qu'elle ne sorte un twist de fou et, c'est comme si on se retrouvait dans un tout autre livre ! Brillant
