Helpful explanations and tips, not just answers.
I am really impressed with this and the other Eureka books and wish we had seen them earlier. They are harder than the other 11+ prep books like Bond but the big difference is in the answer section, which provides extremely helpful explanations and tips. This makes so much difference, compared to just being given the answers, and I feel other 11+ books are really missing a trick here. The explanations are clear and encourage thinking about how the same methods might apply to different questions. I have seen my son's confidence with maths improve no end in the past few weeks since getting this, though at the start he was a bit intimidated by how hard some of the questions are. We also have this, which is excellent: Synonyms and Antonyms, Vocabulary and Cloze: The 1000 Word 11+ Brain Boost Part 1: 500 CEM style Verbal Reasoning Exam Paper Questions in 10 Minute Tests (11+ Exam Preparation) . This range of books might be too intimidating at the early stages of preparation but if your child is doing well with other books I would thoroughly recommend these.

the questions were far too challenging for 11+ prep, I would say it is more 13+ or for a super able 10-11 year old who has mastered all the other material available

Lots of practical advice on how not to go wrong
Easy to use. Almost half of this book is made up of a detailed answer section. But it not just the right answers. It's like "if you got it wrong, it was probably because of X". Pretty much for each mistake, there was a way to "Never let it happen again."Many of the questions start off easy. But then you find they get tricky. But then in the back you see it is always doable with simple steps. The really hard part is making sure to make no mistakes.Quite often there is a fun story with the question, which lessened the pain of maths. Hunting out what is the relevant numbers and what to do with them, that is what it seems Numerical Reasoning actually is. Sort of "Maths in a story."One more thing. I like the way it tells you "You could do it this way, but it would be quicker/easier/less likely to go wrong if you do it this other way." That may be the most helpful bit of the book in fact.

Brilliant, well thought series or books - not only great explanations and answers but interesting variety of problems, not typical 11+ speed boosters, but mathematically challenging books, which make a child think, not rush. Also it equips him/her with tools of proper maths. It goes beyond what would be required for 11 plus. But the knowledge acquired would be retained for much longer.

Interesting, fun and challenging
My son loved practising for the 11+ With these Eureka books, and I enjoyed some if these challenges too. There are only about thirty questions in the book but the other half of the book gives clear explanations of the quickest and best routes to working out the answers - really makes you think.
