I used to have a Lakeland one, and like the person who gave this a one star review, overloaded it, and broke the drive connection. User error, not product error. Most of the negative ones appear to be user error. Was gobsmacked by the “sludge” review. To clean it, pour the sludge away and rinse. Very easy to clean.Bought this as £15 cheaper than Lakeland one, and it is virtually identical to it. It does move whilst working, as some reviewers have mentioned, but I just hold it down. It scrapes, not peels, so if you are expecting a smooth peeled potato, you will be disappointed. Excellent if you are going to do roasties though. When you don’t overload it, it works fine. 3 medium potatoes in 1-2 minutes. My opinion obviously differs from others, but possibly my expectations of the product are more realistic.

Update after 6 months, it stopped working. We don't eat mash often so it probably only got used 2 or 3 times a month but today whilst peeling a few medium sized Potato's it gave up. It still make a noise and tries to spin but that's it, I don't still have the box or any returns details and theirs nothing on the original order to contact for a return. Shame really as it was a handy device that worked well, dropped rating to 3 stars to reflect this.I really wasn't expecting much but this machine has surprised me beyond belief. Very easy to use and clean, slightly worried when first started it up as it does vibrate a lot and is noisy but I just put my hand on the lid and waited for a minute and checked the spuds and like magic they were peeled. Only a few tiny bits of skin were visible so I fired it up again for 30 seconds or so and then they were completely done. Just a sort of mulch was left behind after removing the peeled potatoes which went down the plug hole and cleaning was as simple as a dunk and a wipe in the washing up bowl. These machines are a around £10 cheaper on here (£20.99) than on the "auction site" so it's a real bargain, so much so that we ordered another one for the mother in law.

Brought this to aid my wife. It's amazing! Use common sense and it will serve you well. Quick and clean. It does make a bit of noise, but no more than a blender, TBH. Don't overload it, trim off all deep eyes and it will give you perfect peeled spuds every time. A doddle to clean. Used daily and never given us a days problem. Would highly recommend. xxx

Washes the potatoes lovely only have to take black bits out couldn't do with out it as my hands aren't very good
