So Versatile, It's Rhythm Guitar Heaven
I put a set of P-Rails with SD Triple Shots in my Godin Freeway SA. The pickups are absolutely fantastic. It has made my Godin Freeway SA my number one guitar. The guitar came stock with humbuckers and synthesizer access. I added a GraphTech Acoustiphonic preamp for an acoustic voice. And these SD P-Rails put it over the top in terms of versatility. My band plays all-out variety, and I can get any tone from this guitar. The single coils are great for any Stones song, Love Shack, and Play that Funky Music. The humbuckers are great for You Shook Me, Talk Dirty to Me, or All the Small Things. And the P-90s sound great for Twist and Shout, and any George Thorogood. Add that to the synth, and acoustic voices and I'm in rhythm guitar player's heaven. Whatever I need, I can get from my Freeway SA.Absolutely love these P-Rails pickups with the triple shots.

Extremely high output, unbalanced and overall unworkable pickup
Disclaimer: I've been using Seymour Duncans (Jazz, Distortion, etc.) on my other guitars and gave this one a try to gain more flexibility on an otherwise great sounding Japanese made Ibanez.Installed this neck pickup with the (really cool) triple shot switching system. The output is extremely high and distorting even in single coil mode. My wiring is direct to the 5-way switching, professionally installed and does not have any grounding or other issue. To reduce the output we had to use a resistor to ground, but then the problem is that not all 4 positions of this pickup (single, P90, parallel, series humbucker) have the same output. It's ironic that you can only choose one resistor value that will fix the output of at most one of these positions if you use triple shotThe pickup is at its lowest and max distance from the strings. This pickup by the way is thicker than most humbuckers so may not go low enough in your guitar.Sound: Disappointing. This is supposed to be the best of both worlds but it does neither well. I don't get snappy and crisp single coil sounds because it's a hot rails coil (not vintage enough), and the P90 is just ok. Humbucker has higher output and more compressed sound than the bridge pickup (that's a first!) and is unusable for cleans. All positions are not bright enough for my taste. I tried a capacitor as high pass filter but the overall character of the pickup changed again. Due to the flexibility it offers it's completely unbalanced throughout all 4 sounds. Even if I could balance each sound properly with various resistors attached to the triple shot, that defeats the purpose, because the direct output from the pickup will be high, which compresses dynamics and loses the vintage strat-y chime.Note that all my comments here refer to sounds while using exclusively this pickup. Combinations with middle-bridge pickups obviously will also sound bad because those would usually have lower output.I'm not sure how it worked for those who claim it worked well, but it certainly didn't work for me and I was already beyond my return period when I finally got to try it. I'm fully aware how ridiculous it'll sound to some people but I fully stand behind this statement and can support it with sound samples: this pickup sounds much worse than the stock ceramic Ibanez V7 it replaced. if I don't succeed to make it work with few more wiring experiments I'll put it aside and replace with the stock. It's just frustrating that I paid so much for this pickup and can't return it, but at least you won't have to.

Warm, rich tone with options
The P-90 coil is just amazing. I have the mini-toggle option set up for series/single/parallel with the P-90 being the available coil in single coil mode. Love the series and parallel sounds too! Bear in mind this is the neck version of the P-Rail. (The bridge version is overwound by several thousand ohms compared to the neck and thus becomes a little too muddy in series.)
