Cinema 4D Beginner's Guide

Good beginner book
This is a good book for beginners. I worked in C4D vs 9.1 and haven't used it for several years so I was familiar with it but not enough to consider myself an intermediate user. One thing I noticed is errata, especially on coordinates. The numbers may be incorrect (ie: X axis reads 300 when it should be -300) and a graphic of the toolbar was printed upside down. If anything it's a good way of learning when you have to figure out why an exercise is not working, if it doesn't work for you, check the coordinates, they may be incorrect. On a more positive note, Packt does encourage users to notify them of a typo in the book on their website and if you are having a problem go there and someone may have figured it out and listed it. They were appreciative of the errors I found.

Bad image quality.
Content is good, but the image quality is very poor. Black and white print screen images are just about impossible to get clear.

The authors did not proof read this book before publishing
UPDATE: Don't waste your money on this book. As you go further into the book, there are more and more mistakes. I quit using it because there were so many and nothing the book teaches you to create turns out like what the book says. It just gets confusing. I am getting rid of mine.-----------This book is pretty good for beginners -- if you can figure out the correct numbers for the exercises. The authors did not proofread this book before publishing. There aren't any grammar or spelling errors, just incorrect information on the exercises. Sometimes there is an extra step that shouldn't be included because this extra step highly distorts the exercise. If you skip the step, then you achieve the desire results that the book wants you to achieve. The book will tell you to enter 25cm in the field for position, but to get the object you are working with to look like the book example, you need to enter -25cm.There are a whole bunch of mistakes like this and you spend more time trying to figure out what the correct entry should be than you do actually learning from the book. Once you figure out the correct entries, the book is alright, and you just do the exercise 2 or 3 times, and you have it down.also, sometimes the book will have illustrations that don't help. ex: the book will tell you about dots that change red or green when you click on them, and it gives you an illustration showing this, but the illustration is in black and white and not color, so the illustration is pointless.

Very poor quality
This gives no more information than online help and the illustrations are vblack and very difficult to discern on the poor quality paper. There are much better primers available.
