Chaos & Colour (Deluxe)

This is a superb new album from the venerable Heep and continues their run of excellence since 2008's mighty "Wake The Sleeper" seemed to put some lead in the Heep pencil. Strong songs and great playing make this an instant, modern Heep classic. Anyone who has seen this line-up live can tell you how good they are. There are some nods to the 70's with a couple of songs evoking "Gypsy" and "Easy Livin'" respectively. But Heep are not a band to rest on their laurels. This is a powerful, potent statement from a band in extraordinarily rude health and firing on all cylinders. Brilliant!

Another excellent addition to the lengthy Heep catalogue. This is a truly inspirational listen from a band that just seem to get better and better. Long may it continue.Worth noting that the mix is more even on this album, I have criticised the crash cymbals being to too high in the mix on earlier recent albums, but this seems to have rectified making for a much better overall sound.Great stuff, we all need cheering up at the moment and this does the trick for me.

The album kicks of with the fantastic save me tonight, and takes you on a journey that leaves you breathless at times, I just love the song golden light which could well be my favourite Uriah Heep song every i have every album they ever made and i have been a fan since the early 80s when they finally made a visit to my local town!

Excellent album from the old boys

Absolutely brilliant album, the boys never disappoint. A great variation of sound and tracks. Great to hear some quieter sounds on this album too - a real treat.I bought the deluxe version and the packaging is really solid and smooth - it comes with a bonus track and mine came with a Uriah Heep Patch which I was not expecting - 'Appy Days!

This album just gets better every time you hear it.Excellent songs by great musicians whose energy defy there ages! A truly world class unit. A quality product.

It is hard to believe that uriah heep keeps Producing, magical and wonderful music in this day and age. But they have done it again and have excel beyond my wildest expectations. Long live uriah heap!!!!

Ce "Chaos & Colour", 25ème opus d'Uriah Heep, est un album de hard-rock mélodique, qui ne manque certainement pas de punch. Pourtant constitué de onze compositions, dont trois d'entre elles affichent une durée assez importante, aucune lassitude ne se pointe lors de son écoute.C'est un "Save Me Tonight" qui donne le ton, suivi d'un "Silver Sunlight" qui enquille sur un bon rythme, en étant (comme la majorité des titres de l'opus), souvent très mélodique. Le soutenu "Hurricane", voir un plus sombre "Fly Like An Eagle" appuyant encore la cadence. "Hail The Sunrise" avec son orgue rugissant, évoquant (presque inévitablement), l'Hammond d'un certain Jon Lord.Le style, sur cet album d'Uriah Heep, n'étant pas si éloigné de celui d'un Deep Purple (période Steve Morse), mais en étant quelque part finalement plus remuant, évoluant entre un hard-rock, comme pratiqué par cette vieille école Anglaise, et un rock dérivant vers un genre un peu plus progressif.L'orgue Hammond de Phil Lanzon, se partageant équitablement les rôles avec la guitare de Mick Box. Mais chaque musicien à l'occasion de briller, tout au long d'un album qui passe de morceaux à la durée standard, les énergiques "Ages Of Changes" ou "Golden Light", à des morceaux s'étalant au delà de ces durées classiques, et changeant fréquemment de rythmes.Le chanteur Bernie Shaw, réalisant vraiment une excellente prestation, comme sur les titres à tiroirs que sont, la super ballade "One Nation, One Sun" ou l'épique "You'll Never Be Alone". Le batteur Russel Gilbrook bénéficiant, sur cette production claire et bombastique, d'un son et d'une frappe bien boostante, Dave Rimmer (un ex-Zodiac and the Mindwarp), y faisant habilement sonner sa basse, notamment sur un "Freedom To Be Free".Un "Chaos & Colour" vraiment pêchu, emplit de bons passages, qui se termine (dans sa version standard), avec un boogie rock "Closer To Your Dreams".Car, sur la version Mediabook de l'opus, le titre "Save Me Tonight" (qui entame l'album), composé par Jeff Scott Soto et Dave Rimmer, figure aussi en version démo. Une démo, où le bassiste, n'est pas accompagné des membres d'Uriah Heep, mais par l'auteur du titre au chant, et Richie Faulkner (guitariste de Judas Priest), proposant une version au rendu assez différent. Une idée originale et très rare, mais qui ne s'imposait pas réellement.
