Q: How long will a can of butane last?

6 hrs on low. Never used it on high so i can't say how long on high.

Q: Is carbon monoxide a concern?

It work very find for our small Van. It does smell little bit but we keep a slice of air thrue a window and it is find.

Q: if this was compatible with propane it would be way more desirable. Can this be converted to propane?

There is a pressure switch in this, and it will trip if propane is introduced and not regulated. You can buy adapters to connect your 1lb propane, but you need to regulate the pressure going into the heater, to avoid tripping the pressure safety switch.

Q: What is the burn time on 8 oz. of fuel?

With the heater on the high setting the run time is between four and six hours.
