Energy saving and very useful for odd spaces
We have 3 of these now - one in the staircase. Much easier when I have to bring the pup downstairs in the middle of the night to pee. I don't need to turn on the light and hurt my eyes, or wake up my husband. The light is bright enough so that I don't risk falling down the stairs, the light angles so it isn't in my eyes blinding me (these are bright) and it picks up movement with no problems at all. We have another in the kitchen. The kitchen light switch is near one entrance into the kitchen. There is no light switch if you enter the kitchen from the dining room. We turn lights off in our house (one of the reasons we have a 4 bedroom house with an electric bill of $100 a month!). With this little 3 battery motion sensor light, I can enter the kitchen from the dining room and not have to turn on the light. Stays on long enough for a quick run to the fridge or to get to the light switch so I'm not walking in the dark. The third is in the basement stairs - the need there should be obvious. The first one we bought in True Value. The second 2 on Amazon. I have no idea if they are the same manufacturer. I can tell you they are identical and work equally well. I assume I don't have to tell you that the price on Amazon was half what I paid for the first one at True Value!Highly Recommended!UPDATE:This product, while it looks precisely like the one I bought at True Value, does not perform as well. We've already gone through 3 AAA batteries - in no time at all. Because the light turns on anytime there is motion - without regard to whether the room is light or dark. In other words, the motion detector turns on even when the kitchen light is already on. So, it's going off all the time. Apparently, these particular motion sensing lights are only good for enclosed spaces like closets or stairways that are not used frequently and where the light will always be needed.

Will always have these!
I have ordered dozens of these lights. We use them in our own home, our son's apartment and for the elderly parent's residences (in the past). They are inexpensive, they are bright and they work.I have only used regular Duracell batteries and they have lasted. For use in our bedroom & bathroom, I used a red Sharpie to color the clear plastic that protects the leds. This softens the light for I-need-to-get-up sleepy eyes but, still allows excellent illumination (easy back-to-sleep).They need to be in the home of every senior (single or not). Our late parents loved these. When my widowed dad-in-law took an after-midnight fall one night and was unable to get up, these little lights kept him from being in complete darkness until we were able to get to his apartment after he used his alert button. The EMTs asked where we got them!My own Dad had poor vision and these lit-up his floor ahead as he walked. My late stroke-impaired Mom called them her Star Trek lights (because they were automatic, like the doors on Star Trek!).I also make sure to keep one in my suitcase for travel use. Perfect for midnight bathroom needs in strange surroundings or a flashlight. I painted the case in bright orange and place it on the floor (visible and no worries about forgetting it!).We use these inside cabinets; on stairways (keep them nearer the floor to make the steps really bright); in the garage (instant brightness getting out of the car!); attached 2' above our elderly dog's water bowl; at knee-height next to exterior steps and more.Everyone that experiences these little-but-big-brightness beauties love them.

Great light for safety and emergency lighting
We originally purchased the Fulcrum Motion Sensor LED Light to replace a Philips SpotOn LED Philips Motion Sensor LED SpotOn White Light Bulb at the middle landing of our interior staircase. The Philips worked fine, but it could have been a little brighter and did not have a daylight sensor, which meant it would turn on every time someone went up and down the stairs. We wanted a motion detection light there for safety and in the event of power blackouts. There is no electrical outlet so it had to be a battery-powered light. The Fulcrum unit has a brighter beam that can be angled downward, and it has a daylight sensor so it does not turn on unnecessarily during the day or when lights are on (saves batteries). In our installation, it reliably detects motion and turns on from both upstairs and downstairs approaches within a couple of steps. Note that some experimentation is needed to position it properly for motion detection (recommend propping it up first or mounting it temporarily to test it out before securing it permanently). No issues with battery consumption. We've been using rechargeable NiMH batteries in our unit, and with our usage these last 5 or 6 weeks easily before we routinely replace them with a back up set of batteries and recharge the used set. (By the way, we swear by Eneloop AA Sanyo Eneloop 4 Pack AA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargable Batteries w/ Charger and AAA Sanyo Eneloop AAA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries (4 Pack) rechargeable batteries for all of our battery-operated devices.)We liked this unit enough that we purchased several additional ones for our parents last Christmas. This came in handy recently when we were at my in-laws home and the power went out. Walking just a step or two, the Fulcrum units lit up as designed and helped us find our way around to get candles and flashlights until the power outage was over. For emergency lighting purposes where an electrical outlet is available, we also like the Datexx Sentina Emergency Smart Light Sentina LED-92M Smart Rechargeable LED Light for Emergency or Everyday , which acts as a nightlight as well as an emergency flashlight. It's a bit more expensive though, and you do need to have an outlet to plug it into.
