Disappointing
I tried this watch twice. Getting ready for a backpacking trip, the first one was delivered while I was still at home and had serious malfunctions. I exchanged it for a replacement and that one seemed to be fine. I left on my trip and the watch failed within about a week. Similar problems. Since I was traveling, I was unable to return it so my money went down the drain. I'm very disappointed that this watch wasn't the perfect travel watch I thought I had finally found. Instead, it was a huge waste of money on a useless piece of trash. Timex's brand reputation has suffered permanent damage. I'll probably never again buy a Timex.

This Timex: A Bad Time
On paper, this is a very cool watch. In person, it's also very cool at the outset. It's sturdy, it looks good, and it fits well. I liked the features. Sadly, it can't be easily serviced. To change the battery--which died soon after purchase and isn't a warranty item--the back needs to be removed and then put back on in a press. Two different professional jewelers turned down servicing the watch and called it a "disposable fashion piece". I was also unable to press the back into place myself. That's resulted in a watch that can't be worn and can't be repaired. Timex has advised that it would be shipped overseas to have the battery replaced. Wow. Timex has presented extensive support issues and it is just past Amazon's return period.Because of that, I do not recommend this watch. It's not convenient to conduct basic maintenance and I wasn't able to wear it long enough to comment on its long term durability. Look for another, higher quality timepiece. This one looks good but won't withstand basic use without receiving service on another continent. Sad.

A working watch
No real complaints. The watch is rugged, built to last. I bought it to track the tides in my area. While I can't say it 100% accurate all the time- it serves to give me an idea. I'm still having questions about the compass and temperature features with regards to if or how the indicator changes up with regards to what is being "read"- but I suppose I need to play with it more to figure things out. Overall, I find it easy to read, though at night wit the light- it is a bit more difficult.Water resistance? Yes, it is. Have I tested it to depth? No. Salt spray, some immersion maybe, and that's the extent of it. Looks? Am satisfied. Weight? I like a heavy watch. Lets me know there's something on my arm. This one isn't heavy- but it's not titanium light either. Value? I'm satisfied with it.

WHAT?
Ok so I have read the reviews and I keep asking WHAT? Sometimes I think people write reviews and have no clue what they are talking about. So I bought this watch just because in the 80s I was kid and my dad had a Timex. I like to know tides and temps and why not the compass? So this being the only watch other that a crappy old smart watch is the only thing out there that met my needs. I read the reviews and laughed.I bought the stainless steel version and it is very nice. Snobs will talk crap about the quartz movement but it works and is still alive about 50 years later. So why the bad reviews? Some said the accuracy was off. Well I can attest that mine is perfect. I used NIST's atomic clock to set my watch and in 4 days is dead on what I set it at. The tide function: manufacturer states it is not "exactly" accurate but I set it based on the tide of where I like to boat in Beaufort, SC and it is close enough that I can't tell how inaccurate it is. Compass is not accurate due to the fact it's in a watch but it is close. If you need to be accurate then you won't be using your watch anyway. So, why the bad reviews?Because some people don't know how to set a watch. I am a metrologist. I have a timometer to check watches and timers and etc. I just set it on the timometer and it says -0.003secs. TIMEX gets -0.003secs ? BTW, Timex states 6 secs a month or something like that on this watch. It will take a long time for it to get that far off by wear and tear. It may not last that long but it is worth the buy if you're not a snobby watch collector who hates on watches because they have nothing else better to do.

Love
I use this watch as my daily and I love it. Timex out did themselves with this one.

Not Like the Old Timex-Not Ticking
Bought for my developmentally disabled brother for Christmas. The back (?!) came off and I can't figure out how to put it back together. Another contribution to our landfill crisis.
