IT WORKS! HURRAH!! [See follow-up to this review].
Desparate to get rid of whatever is in the loft and didn't want to put down poison etc. Bought this with fingers crossed and so far so good. I have it placed on my landing below the loft hatch and due to the electromagnetics this appears to be reaching the loft without difficulty and I have not heard any noises from the critters [rats or squirrels] since plugging it in!!! What more can you ask for? I did of course check that the problem was not bats since as these are protected I would not have been able to use this item had they been the problem! I really wasn't sure if this would travel through the walls but it does appear to be doing so plus the ultrasonic side is an added boost. I have a dog and she is not bothered by the ultrasonic deterrent part but if any animals do come to the house that are disturbed by it I can always switch to the "pet" mode and all should be OK. If in doubt it is very little cost compared with calling out a pest control specialist so I would recommend giving it a try.Follow-up:-Oh dear - a week on and the rats are back thundering around the loft. I moved this from the landing to the bedroom to see if this would change things and it was fine again for a couple of days then back came the pesky pests. I have given up and resorted to pest controller and poison - not what I wanted but cannot put up with any more sleepless nights. It may well be OK for others but obviously is not working anymore for me and since I have no power sockets in the loft have no other options available. Thank goodness for the Amazon return policy!

Not sure if it worked.
Seemed to do the job initially, but I still had a mouse on going mouse problem. I have just given an extra star because the blue light light of the hallway - useful for night time visits to the bathroom.I found the solution to be identifying the entry point of the mouse and either sealing it and/or purchasing a good quality rat (rather then mouse) trap where the mouse will walk straight into it. I have one of the large white plastic ones. I don't think I am allowed to name the retailer.

Pests and vermin stay away
I bought these last winter as we had rats or mice trying to get into our roof space from a neighbouring property. I have plugged 2 into upstairs rooms, they are left on all day/night, they are virtually inaudible to humans. Home Sentinel say they are pet/dog safe, our dog seems not to hear or be affected by them. They seem to work really well, we stopped hearing scratching or suspicious rodent noise after a few days of use. They are low energy and don't seem to be costing much to leave on, I like them as they are more humane than traps and safer than poison

I think they work but I need to experiment further
I have a phobia of spiders. How I've survived 50+ years with them I'll never know!I swear there are more spiders than before in my home since I've got the devices (Summer I expect) but they do seem to avoid the devices. I believe they do work so will buy more 2-packs as I've only got 1 pack of two (used in hallway and master bedroom). No spiders in the hallway; one spider at the other end of the bedroom behind the bed which I believe is shielding it from the waves of the device; 2 spiders in the kitchen/diner; 1 in bathroom: 1 in toilet and 2 in spare bedroom. (Told you I had a phobia!) A device for each of these rooms methinks (luckily there is a plug socket behind the bed where this ginormous spider is so the master bedroom will have 2 devices) and then I should be well rid!

Appears to be working so far
We have plugged the Home Sentinel in a very prominent position in our kitchen and it appears to be working okay on two settings: the electromagnetic and ionic, (which appears to be the pet-friendly setting). However, the ultra sonic feature upset our cat immediately; so if you do not have a pet, I am sure the ultra-sonic one would work as well, though you may hear a faint electronic buzz. We did not see any mice in the house, but had two incidents recently of our cat bringing field mice out of our kitchen and decided to order this unit. It was installed exactly a month ago and our cat has not found anymore to present us with! Should this continue, I will up my star rating to five!

very promising
i brought these because i hate spiders, one in the living room and the 2nd on the landing, when you first get them you think they dont work but actually they bring spiders out of hiding, but eventually you see them less and less, the skinny spiders that you hardly see i dont think it affects them as i still see them but i can cope with them, i havnt seen the big ugly scary ones since, to me this is worth every penny, but be ready for them when you first use them.

Still In he Testing Stage
It's only been set up for a few days, so too soon to tell you how the are with clearing the mice from the house. Only down point is the frequency noise that my children can hear when the "pet safe" option is not set. I have to turn it on during the day when the kids are up and about, and off again when they go to bed. Finding the best place to set the device has been trial and error, the kitchen is suggested as the ideal place, but all our plugs are quite high up... Time will tell.

My two noticed it immediately and ran straight to where the unit was with their ears pricked up and then moved away from it whil
Have only this evening plugged this unit in so will update my review in a few days but wanted to say that unlike other people's reviews I have found that it definitely DOES affect dogs if not on pet mode! My two noticed it immediately and ran straight to where the unit was with their ears pricked up and then moved away from it whilst shaking their heads because it was clearly annoying them. I turned it on pet mode and they didn't react so to double check I turned pet mode back off and they again reacted uncomfortably. So I have to keep it off the ultrasonic mode, fingers crossed it's still effective at deterring mice!
