These are MEDIUM PLUG PLANTS of Cortaderia richardii - TOE-TOE GRASS. This is a pampas grass from the South Island of New Zealand. New Zealand was once connected to South America (as Gondwanaland), hence the "Toetoe" evolved. Seldom seen in cultivation, its substantial stems bear large woolly plumes. The plumes are silver-white and long-lasting and the plant is evergreen, growing to a height of approximately 6 feet. The plumes are produced during Summer whereas the plumes of Cortaderia selloana (White and Pink Pampas Grass) are produced during Autumn. Feathers can be used in flower-arranging. These MEDIUM PLUG PLANTS are ready to be planted out into their final flowering positions. They prefer a position in full or half sun. Keep moist until established.
