Well-tuned design, developed in the Carpathians.
Helle Knives and Les Stroud seem to have thoughtfully designed the Mândra to be a truly useful utilitarian blade. Despite its small stature, the rather wide belly (in ratio to the blade length) , lend it as an excellent slicing tool. The birch scales resting on a visible full tang with black liners, fit naturally and comfortably to my hands, (6'3" size L hands) even during extended use. Unseen in most photos, on the adjacent side of the blade is the "Survivorman" logo. The birch scales on my specimen seemed a bit dry, and so I did promptly apply a bit of wax. Despite the 2.5" (64mm) blade length, it remains surprisingly capable at many tasks often usually tackled with a larger blade. At a mere 2.4 ounces, it can be comfortably and unnoticeable carried on the belt, or around the neck, with the included leather lace. For those in areas which might not be knife friendly zones, it definitely would be more public friendly than most other offerings, provided fixed blades of this size are legal in your area. It certainly does not scream "tactical" or worse yet "tacti-cool", but it certainly offers plenty of utilitarian function for anything you might call upon a sub-3" blade to do. Is it worth the asking price? Only you will be able to answer this. For a "neck-knife" category, it is not cheap. I am quite happy with the price, even though the selling price is slightly higher than the full size Helle Temagami (also Les Stroud design). Is it as beautiful as other Helle knives, or have the level of fit and finish, with full attention to details? No. But the design and execution is solid, and it does perform extremely well and does a good job at getting the most cutting edge, on a short blade length. And I also fully admit, that the homage to Romania, in the name, Mândra (proud), as well as knowing Les sweated and put much thoughtfulness into the design, was a major reason of my purchasing this knife. And ever since I grew up admiring the Helle knives in EPCOT's Norway pavilion, I have always admired their craftsmanship. So whether I am using it for scraping up kindling, cutting some burduf cheese for a snack, or simply admiring the neat little knife hanging from my neck as the palinca and țuica flow like the waters, I am quite satisfied with this little, though very capable blade. Good enough for Alaska
As with all Helle knives (i have 3 so far), quality is top notch and they don't come any sharper. This knife is a good size and would be perfect for camping. I actually bought it for a motorcycle trip to Deadhorse, Alaska this upcoming summer. It hangs comfortably around the neck or could be shoved into a jacket pocket. I have Medium-Large sized hands and this knife is not uncomfortable. Judging from experience, id say this knife would be good for just about anything you would reasonably do with it. Batoning a 12" cypress tree? Probably not, skinning game (any size), camp chores or general woods knife....perfect. Don't let the price bother you, Helle knives are heirlooms to be passed on for generations as well as useful and tough tools.

Compact edc
As a whole it looks and feels really good, small compact, perfect for a daily carry, the only faults so far the knife tip was ground unevenly, and the grip scales are proportionally off,( one thicker then the other) .

Awesome!!!
This is the 5th knife I own of this brand. They all are amazing and don’t disappoint! The blades are stout and hold an edge for a long time. The handles are a piece of art in theirselves. I get one and it’s so nice I don’t want to use it so I get another and well you get the idea. Quality and true craftsmanship are at the finest! This little guy is awesome!

A Legendary Knife that Won't Let You Down
As and avid hunter and outdoorsman on YouTube I need quality blades that won't let me down in any situation the wilderness might bring. There is simply no better knife brand that Helle! This tiny neck knife is expensive compared to many others but that's due to the high quality materials and the legacy and love behind the Helle brand. You are not just buying a knife here, you're buying a legend!

Much smaller than expected.
Handle is much smaller than expected and did not fit my hand. However, the knife came extremely sharp and the sheath is perfect for the intended use (neck knife). The slight off-center mounting of the blade-to-handle was very minimal and acceptable with such a handmade item. Would be perfect with slightly larger handle.

Made With Quality
Hi, I was interested in checking the craftsmanship and quality of this knife. The Helle knives are sometimes criticized in the reviews for poor quality and this concerned me. I can only say this one lives up to the Helle name and quality was outstanding. I purchased this for the quality of the steel and it’s size. Nice for an everyday carry and a big blade in a small package. I thought it was a little expensive so I deducted one star.
