Latex is real
Memory foam stinks. It literally smells. It off-gasses nasty chemicals. It decomposes after a while and clumps together. It gets gooey and hard. THIS pillow is latex, which has none of those problems. Some years ago, we purchased a latex mattress from the same company, Sleep on Latex. We have been sleeping comfortably ever since. I was put off initially by the price of latex. It was worth it for the mattress, and it is worth it for this pillow. I used to have a conventional foam pillow that was an ergonomic foam contour pillow, but with high sides. The bolster beneath my neck was low and just right. Eventually, the foam became unsupportive with age. Shopping for a replacement, I could only find memory foam pillows. I dislike memory foam in bedding. I dislike memory foam in shoe insoles. I dislike memory foam in chairs. I don't understand why memory foam took over. It is like the AI of cushioning technology. Most people don't want the resulting products, yet, here we are. So for a while, I used a shredded memory foam pillow because it was cheap and I could remove some of the foam to make it less lofty. Bed pillows, healthy bed pillows, shouldn't be 6-8" thick. So I removed foam until I had a sort of beanbag of a pillow about 3" thick. Just enough to fill the natural curvature in my neck. But, I had to let the memory foam off-gas in the garage for a month. After a few years use, my neck began to hurt because the foam began to harden and clump together, because it is memory foam.So I bought this WONDERFUL SHREDDED LATEX PILLOW. It had an ever so slight organic odor when I first opened the plastic bag it came in. A few hours later, I detected no smell. I am very sensitive to odors, so that is really significant. It was an overstuffed pillow, and came with a cloth cylindrical bag with more shredded foam in it. The pillow has a double cloth case, both have zippers allowing adjustment of the material. I emptied a bit less than half of the filling into a paper grocery bag. I used that extra foam to fill another zippered pillow case I had from emptying the memory foam pillow and discarding the yucky memory foam, then laundering the case. So I now have two latex pillows to use. The Sleep On Latex pillow was still a bit thick for my neck. So I tried the leftover latex pillow I made from the extra foam. My neck hasn't felt this good after sleeping, for probably a year. Most pillows are too thick to be ergonomic for a back sleeper. Get this pillow and you can adjust the thickness, and the latex foam will last many years.

Omg! Too many shreds!
These were way too puffy for us side sleepers so I had to remove probably a third the of shreds. You can see in the ziplock bag. That’s what I took out of the beige covered pillow. The white pillow is how they were shipped. BEWARE if you try to remove shreds…it’s like a bean bag fill or packing peanuts explosion when you open and try to remove. The zipper on the pillow is pretty narrow…not the full length of the pillow side. They do come in 2 cotton covers (each pillow has double cases) and they are nice enough to send 2 lumbar size bags of EXTRA fill which we will never need but we can now easily make probably 2 standard pillows with what I’m removing, and the extra they sent! Bonus! There was no smell and we feel they are still very supportive despite removing what we did. We have 100% organic bamboo pillow cases and do not get hot with less filling.

Does not perform like latex pillows
This is a very high quality pillow/case. But it performs like the standard poly filled store bought pillows. It does not perform like a solid latex pillow in the least.I have been using solid latex pillows for 30 years. They all bounce back to 100% shape within a split second or you lifting your head off the pillow. They are either soft, medium or firm and thick, medium or thin. I had hoped that I could use this pillow to adjust the firmness and thickness while retaining most of the "bounce back". The trouble is that there is no latex "bounce back".So, if you are not concerned with how a traditional latex pillow performs (bounce back), then this may be a great pillow for you.Edit: This is a shredded latex pillow and I didn't expect it to perform exactly like a solid latex pillow. I did think that it would perform some what similarly. I thought it would bounce back at least a little because its latex (may half as much), but mine didn't bounce back at all. It is a very nice pillow and the adjustability is great, but it isn't for me. I've learned that I need to stick with solid latex.

Very heavy!!
I am a fan of solid latex pillows, this is my first time purchasing a shredded version. The inner and outer cases are well made. Zippers do not stick. It is well stuffed and firm. The pillow itself is surprisingly heavy. Included in the package is a cylindrical bag of extra filling and makes a fine neck pillow but, if you were to use it as a pillow, you would need to watch out for filling spilling from the drawstring closure or enclose it in a secure bag. It's very comfortable. One small irritation:The zipper and the tags are on opposite ends making it impossible to hide them in the closed end of your pillow case.

Adjustable!
Reviewers complaining about the pillow being too firm/hard are missing the point that you can remove filling to adjust it's hardness to your liking.I like very thin pillows, so I removed a ton of filling, enough to make another pillow, lol. Now I have a "thin" pillow that will always fluff up. I expect this to last forever really. Wish I could buy an extra set of pillow cases for the extra filling and make a few more pillows of what I have. There is a few things I don't particularly like about these:1. The latex smell isn't very pleasant especially when sleeping face down, but I don't think there's a health hazard unless there's microscopic particles that I'm breaking in, no idea if that's the case or not. There's definitely fine particles in the mix when I was taking them out and then having to vacuum up the fines to clean up.2. Another reviewer mentioned that having a finer shred would make these more comfortable, I agree. We also have a sleep on latex mattress, and the company and customer service has been great, so they have that going for them. Prices are very good too. Great company!
