Very inspiring!
While I can't apply eyeshadow to save my life (yet), this book is giving me the inspiration to try. I'm going to start with some of the eyeliner techniques and move on from there. I adore this book, and its presentation of each individual and fabulous woman herein. I like the little histories throughout the book very much, and how Linda Mason has worked with each as an individual. The variety of beauties in the book is really perfection in itself. One of them looks very much like my 65 year old mother, so guess who is going to be experimented on by me and my building arsenal of make up products very soon!! And of course how can you go wrong with the photos in this book of the sublime Paulina P, in 2 very different and very lovely make ups. Sooo stunning and gorgeous in her green eye makeup (which has now caused me to purchase a Laura Mercier eye colour in St Germaine to try the look one day, which I'm really looking forward to.) Love also the bright red eyeliner on the beautiful Asian woman. I won't do that colour eyelier I think, but I fully love it on the model sporting it and have an (arty) friend who is going to give it a try. I've also never before this book seen the tricks for elongating a round eye. Merci! These stealthy tricks are great and I've never found them before. This book is accessible and opens up possibilities for those ready to move beyond 50 shades of taupe. Love this book!

Not recommended
This book was written in 2011, but it seems so dated! If you're the kind of person who bothers to blend three different colors on your eyelids and contour your cheekbones in addition to blush and highlighter, then this is the book for you. I think the results look fake and over-done. Makeup Wakeup is a MUCH better book -great instructions with simple products and great, natural results. Check it out. Highly Recommended!
I had pre-ordered this latest book from Linda Mason (I refer to her other books constantly), and anxiously awaited its arrival. I was not disappointed! This book offers some great tips on skincare & cosmetic placement for face shape & to emphasize features--plus the step by step looks in the book (right down to the exact colors used to create each look) are so helpful and genius. Linda is a great teacher & I found the techniques very easy to explore and create. The point here is that everyone is beautiful -- whether your choice is natural or colorful, you can look and feel even better. Many thanks to her and this book for helping me out of my makeup rut and giving me a newfound sense of fun. Excellent book -already looking forward to her next one!

for older women who like to look like clowns
This is a really bad book about makeup for older women. Red eyeliner? Not even a good look for a teenager!!! A few of the models in this book also appear in The Makeup Wakeup, like Carol Alt and Alva Chinn. Their makeup in that book looks beautiful. I ended up returning this book, but I kept The Makeup Wakeup, which is an awesome instructional book with beautiful photos.

Pretty bad
This is pretty bad. It's one of the worst grooming or make up books I've seen, and if I hadn't ordered it, sight unseen, on Amazon, there would have been no sale-- I'd have set it back on the bookshelf. There are a few photos of well-made-up persons, but overall, garish, poor choices in color/looks, and WAY too much clown-eyed bright makeup on otherwise normal-looking women.

This has to be a joke
I am a beauty junkie - books, products, etc.... I cannot believe the way they had these naturally beautiful women made up. Yellow eye shadow, bright green eye shadow and bright red lips???!!! - they looked like clowns - it screams "look at me and my make-up" instead of "Wow, she looks pretty and NATURAL". - If you want a great book - try Wake-up Make-Up if you want to achieve a "natural" look....don't waste the money on this one I wish I didn't....

I love this book, thanks so much!
I love this book and thanks so much. Not only it arrived really quickly with the other books, I totally loved the fact that it was my age book and not young girls - Most fashion and make up and books, clothes, shoes, mostly is advertised for young girls. But how about us, as we go older and still want to feel young? This book made me feel, 'oh, okay, so I can do this, I can do that, and get some parts of my make up improve me and make me feel fresher'. Thanks a lot!

Insightful and professionally a must
Linda Mason is one of my favorite make up artists and this books is a shining example of why. Taking one of the most neglected sectors of the make up market: the 40 plus woman, and writing an insightful and informative book on the subject. As a make up artist myself I found this an invaluable resource to refer to for make overs, photo shoots and just a general fount of information.

Good ideas for those who find make-up difficult
This book shows different styles of make-up and how to work with face shapes etc. I would have liked it more if it showed correct colour analysis make-up for the individual.

just what I was looking for, at 60 I can't wear makeup that someone 16 wears, sadly, so this is a good book
