Q: How does this brace provide dorsiflexion assist?

It’s a fixed splint that offers fair support for those who lack consistency in foot and ankle control due to weakness. It would be best for someone who requires minimal assistance rather than total control. I have dystonia and use it due to excessive muscle weakness that results in toe dragging from weakness related drop foot. My muscles become so exhausted after attacks that this helps by adding support with maintaining a 90 degree angle making walking easier and minimizing falls from dragging my toe. I’ve found this coupled with an arch support to be the best outside of extremely expensive trips for AFOs from the orthopedist. I’ve found it to be comfortable and supportive for my needs. It may not work for those who need extreme support or it may work well when coupled with a secondary device like a front dorsiflexion strap.

Q: Can you run with this or is it too stiff and made just for walking?

If it fits properly, I would be able to run. The problem is that they didn’t fit me well. It was too short in the foot and is therefore uncomfortable.

Q: Is the shoe size chart for men or womens size shoes?

Please refer to your normal shoe size, if your shoe size is in the range of small size, we would recommend you choose the medium size. Actually, small size fit for Children no more than 14 years, Medium for most normal foot women, Large fit for men and some women with fat large foot. Because the brace is a lttle smaller than normal size, please order the bigger one, then the brace can be cut refer to your shoe and foot length.
