REVIEW - THE HOUSEMAID'S SECRET BY FREIDA MCFADDENGENRE - PSYCH THRILLERDUAL POVBOOK TWOAlthough a very similar structure to book one, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book. We see how Millie has moved on a long way from her time with Nina and Andrew Winchester and is living a seemingly "normal" life in New York. Lovely boyfriend, going to college and still doing her jobs cleaning and nannying to make the rent. But this is Millie we're talking about, nothing stays normal forever when you have got the reputation she has. Millie starts working for the Garricks, a filthy rich couple living in the penthouse of a swanky building in Manhattan. Apart from a few strange food requests on the shopping list, all seems initially normal enough, until Millie's curiosity for the secret of what lies behind the guest bedroom door gets the better of her. Douglas Garrick explains his wife is ill and not to disturb her.... But Millie can't help herself.... And soon wishes she hadn't knocked on the door that night.As before, I can't tell you anymore without spoilers!!Millie's instincts for survival and justice are relentless in this book, as she escapes jail by the skin of her teeth, it is evident that she can get herself out of the tightest scrapes. There is also an element of humour in McFadden's writing which is a brief yet light-hearted reprieve from the dark and twisty, exquisitely crafted theme of this book.A huge ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ from me

This is the 2nd in a trilogy. I had read the first and enjoyed it so was looking forward to the second. This author has written more than 20 novels so, if they carry on being good, then I'd got lots of reading to do.This was first published in 2023. The book has 327 pages split into 74 chapters.This is written in the first person and gives a conspiratorial edge to the narrative which is a delight to read. The narrators (there are two) are always trying to hide something from someone and it's great being the reader as we usually know what is going on.It's useful to have read the first book but not essential as the author gradually reveals Millie's secrets as the story goes on.This author has a confidence which shines through her writing and I felt I was in safe hands. Of course, the plot is ridiculous but that doesn't matter as this is delicious fun.The twists and turns are cleverly written. Unusually for a novel, none of the characters are particularly likeable but that adds to the enjoyment.The book is a fast paced read which speeds up towards the end. It's great fun but won't stay in my head for long. There is some violence but it is controlled and appropriate, making this an exciting read.

Omg I just finished reading this book and omg I didn’t expect the twists and turns!! It was mind blowing and still amazing as the first one. Freida McFadden is a brilliant author. It was lovely to read more about Enzo and how he still stays by Millie’s side! Millie and Enzo are my favorite couple together!! I definitely recommend this book and series if you haven’t already. You will be shocked at the twists and turns!! Definitely a 5 star again.

The first book in this series was insanely good. This book is also just as gripping with twists and turns. The first book was a tough one to follow due to its success but somehow the writer managed to pull it out the bag once again. Definitely recommend this series to anyone!

Throughly enjoyed book two having read the first one (The Housemaid) last weekend, it was definitely a page turner and finished it in two days this time I was becoming more and more intrigued as to who or what lay behind the doors of the penthouse bedroom and was blown away when the awesome twist and turn was finally revealed. Moving into third book now in the series, and have high hopes having enjoyed book one and two in equal measure.

Was a good story but not as good as the first one found it but slower and not so many twists but all in all a good read.

Unputdownable! I loved it! Great twists, I like the ending too. Happy days. I highly recommend this book. Thank you

It is a couple of years since I read the first installment of this trilogy. My brain is a bit fuzzy now but I can remember really enjoying it. The Handmaid's Secret is just as exciting and engaging. Despite having a busy life, I was hooked and read it in days. Would highly recommend.

The twist towards the end of the book was so unexpected and kept me hooked through the entire read. I love this series. It is gripping but not over the top raunchy or graphic. very much my taste! I am excited to read the third book of this series.

I read this book within 2 days and I could’ve read it in less if I didn’t have to be a responsible adult 🤣 such an amazingly written book with unexpected turns. I loved every second of it

Easy to read with lots of suspense.
