Umm ok
At first look this book was going to be a great help for my daughter 9. However I agree with other reviews that she was unable to read herself due to the text used. I went to get the free software and it doesn’t seem to work?? Anyone have any luck with this?

Great content, hard for a dyslexic reader to access
Great book and some brilliant ideas, all laid out really well. Only problem is the strange 'halloween' style font used throughout. this makes it very hard for dyslexics to read and process. A dyslexic child will need an adult to read it for them which is a bit annoying as mind maps are used a lot by people who struggle to use lists etc. This book sadly doesn't meet the 'Plain English' guidelines. But content is sound!

5 Star Introduction for Kids
I bought this book for my daughter who just started high school (year 7). I had shown her mind maps before and how to use them but she had never ventured beyond playing with a free min mapping program (reviewed at:[])When I gave the book to her, she dismissed it as "this is for little children" and promptly started using mind mapping for her school work to an extent that she received a commendation for it from her teacher. :-) It defintely worked. She may even get around to reading the book.I use mind mapping a lot and checked the book before I gave it to my daughter. It is clear, straight forward and contains everything children (of any age) would need to start mind mapping. Once they get it, there is no limit to what they can use mind mapping for. The illustrations are attractive and the examples chosed speak to kids. All it needs is encouragement from parents and educators to use this fabulous tool.

mind maps for kids review
The 1st book in the MM4K's range by Tony Buzan (2nd is 'Max Your Memory and Concentration'), and must say I'm very impressed. Not sure why these techniques are not used more in our schools but probably a good idea for parents not to leave this to chance. Some of these techniques would be classed as 'accelerated learning' which in theory means they could be useful for all ability ranges.Although these books are written for children (7+), the younger the child the more likely that they will need these techniques explaining to them, although it will be a good study companion throughout later primary and high school.Note - The information in these books is just as relevant to adults although there are books written by Mr Buzan for the adult reader. Recommended.

Just what you need to get started
Had this idea introduced to me at a teacher training day on raising boys achievement. I've started using this with my whole class - boys love it due to the reduction in the amount of writing they have to do and the girls like it because they can make something that looks aesthetically pleasing. Also been using it with my 7 year old daughter; did a mind map on triangles - amazingly, after a very short period of time she is now able to name all the different types of triangles and their properties. Would highly recommend. Have also downloaded the free version of the software that you can get, and that has gone down a storm at home and in the classroom.

Very good for personal and group study
I got this book to use in our book club and it has helped a lot of children to be able to write well-structured essays, plan events, do their school and homework.

Easy to understand if you are above 18
Tony Buzan is a mastar. I am not revealing anything new here. The title says it is for kids however as an adult who has been doing mind maps for myself for the past 20 years, i find the book easy to read for me (because i know the stuff).I belive any kid above 7 will not understand it by reading it, unless an adult explains it to him.So, get it if as a parent you are willing to spend the (short time ) needed to practice yourself and then explain it to your kids. Once they get it , its will definitely make a difference, but dont expect them to pick it up and understand it without your help.
