The machine is also very quiet, so you won’t be disturbed while it’s cleaning your lenses. The machine is also very effective at cleaning lenses, removing any protein build-ups and germs. After reading the mixed reviews for “ultrasonic” contact lens cleaners, I wasn’t sure which brand, if any, to consider or if this type of cleaning really worked. I ended up with this brand and model based on the dubious logic that if they offer multiple models, (1) the company may have given additional thought to its design options; (2) the alleged kHz spec was higher (more oscillations could mean more friction on the lens as might produce more cleaning); and (3) this was the latest and highest numbered model, possibly indicating that it is the best model they have made. Admittedly, this is still a possibly specious basis to make a selection, but I didn’t see any more thoughtful discussion to direct my purchase! That said, it has been good so far during my first week of use. I should note that I am using it with RGP contacts, I typically keep them for 3-5 years, and I apparently produce a prolific amount of protein which quickly accumulated despite daily peroxide soaking and regular enzyme cleaning. I do see and feel a difference after daily 10-minute cleaning. I haven’t tried the three-minute cleaning, so I can’t say if that might be sufficient. Is it noisy as some reviewers have suggested of other models? Mine is not loud at all and when I close the case during cleaning, I can barely hear it. Will the plastic arms locking the lens holding case into the cleaner break after regular use, as some have complained of other models? I don’t think so; the case drops in securely, but it’s not like it snaps in. It is not as compact as some other brands, but certainly is sufficiently compact for travel or sitting out on the counter. And the most important consideration: how well does it clean? I’d give it an 8 out of 10, where it is noticeably better than daily peroxide soaking or even enzyme soaking, but not as good as the cleaning and polishing I get annually from the optometrist for these RGP lenses. If, like me, you experience significant protein buildup on your RGP lenses, this unit is worth considering. I certainly am pleased so far.

Very effectively cleaned my RGP contacts. I seem to accumulate protein deposits very quickly and this restored the clarity and comfort of my contacts to like new condition. I use saline solution for the ultrasonic cleaning, followed by the peroxide based product for overnight. I still need to use enzymatic solution periodically but now it's about every 6 weeks compared to previously every week. However, after 4 months since purchase (the battery charge lasts a ridiculously long time) I'm trying to charge it for the first time but it refuses to charge :(.
