Q: Hi anyone know if these would work with colouring books? Without buckling the paper? Thanks

I guess it depends on the thickness of the paper but I do love them- use a bit of acetate and scribble a bit of colour on it from two or more crayons then with a water brush mix them together to make your own colours. They will last a long time mine don't look like they have been used much but I use them a lot.

Q: Do these fully dissolve once 'activated' with water, or do lines sometimes remain visible?

Yes, they do fully dissolve, you can also put a wet /damp brush on the crayon and paint from them directly. I think if you press a hard line it may be harder to dissolve, but I wouldn't recomend that as although the quality is comparable to neo color 2, they are a bit more fragile- but still well worth it.

Q: How to they compare to caran dache neocolor ii?

Personally I preferred the Caran D'ache, but this might be because the tin I received was old? Most crayons were fine, but the darker green was crumbly and split when I used it, almost as though it had dried out. The others were good though with strong colours based on traditional pigments. I have never had problems with any other Lyra products, so i might just have been unlucky with this particular tin, It made me want to stick with Caran D'ache, though, because I have some of their water soluble crayons that I have had for years and no problem with drying out

Q: can you use these on fabric

No, because they're water activated. They wouldn't be fixed in the fabric.
