Interesting book
Another teen fiction book - first of a trilogy. Was well written but not my favorite. Readers of teen fiction will probably like it.

A good new trilogy
This book is written for a younger audience but is still a good read for anyone. The action starts early in the book and keeps your attention focused right to the end. I found myself getting more into the story as it unfolded. It has all the classic fantasy elements, Knights, Warriors, Kingsdragons and unusual creatures. I am definatly keeping my ey out for book two of the series.

An entertaining story with a biblical perspective
Compared to other famous Christain fantasy autors, this book lacks, but it was easy to feel for the main character's plight and the story line will keep you on the edge of your seat.Even though it's a Christain fantasy novel, it doesn't shove God in your face - making it available for the secular audience as well as Christains, who will notice the subtle references to Chrsit's reserection, God's all loving nature and Satan.A good book for fantasy lovers ten years and up - some adults might find that they like it too! There are some violent battle scenes, but nothing overly gory or discriptive. The good moral lessons overshadow the violence anyway. The main characters don't fight for enjoymeant - they fight because they're defending their country for their king. All in all, an enjoyable read, but nothing that's going to go down in history.

Loved this book!
We spend a lot of time looking for books to read with our children. There is so much out there that almost drags them into adulthood prematurely with their themes. There is so much out there that is spiritually unhelpful if you are a Christian family, which we are. Just to make that clear. We saw this is our local book shop and bought the first volume, not really knowing much about the set at all. I must confess that it took a little time for me personally to get into this book, the initial scene setting was quite slow and clumsy. However once Aidan had made it through into the other realm and his adventures with the knights of Alleble had begun the book really began to flow. I loved the author's use of prose. There were times when his descriptions stopped me in my tracks and I had to read them again, they were so magical. The characters are beautifully written, we particularly liked Falon. There were moments when I had to stop reading to control my emotions which threatened to spill over either with joy or sadness. In short I loved this book and the blatant and clear Christian theme was a winner too for us. People have compared it to LOTR and the Narnia series. I think that is fair. This was a gripping yarn, full of peril and menace with full rounded characters and driving narration, even a little bit of romance. My children are 8 and 10 years and the book has really drawn them in. We are onto book two now and this has started far better than the first, primarily because all the groundwork has already been laid and the characters are known. An excellent find which I can recommend not just as a work of Christian fiction, but as an excellent example of fantasy writing per se.
