ファンデルワールス力を知ることは、実は化学者にも、物理学者にも、生物学者にも、エンジニアにも有用だと著者は主張します。私も全く同感です。この本の内容は、理工系の様々な分野で役に立つに違いありません。洋書である上に数式てんこ盛りで、かなりとっつきの悪い本ではありますが...。それでも、ペーパーバック版が比較的安価になっていて、手に取りやすいのは助かります。

This is a great text all around, containing three 'levels' to match what you might be looking for: just the basics, or some more advanced concepts, or a full derivation of the theory. Most of all, the tone is not dry or boring, it is actually enjoyable to read and concepts are explained clearly with plenty of formulas and illustrations.
