Pinky and the Brain are Hysterical
I love Pinky and the Brain. Brain, with his out-of-this-world IQ ALWAYS relying on Pinky, his buffoon of a partner, to carry out his plots for World Domination. Brain can certainly come up with the plans, but they all fall apart by relying on Pinky. Of course, that is what makes the whole show so funny. You have this mouse with a huge head and amazing intelligence who partners with in imbecile if ever there was one in Pinky. Things are bound to go wrong because you, presumably, can control intelligence, but you sure can't control stupidity, or insanity as the opening credits portray Pinky. From the opening theme to the very end credits, this show is filled with laughs. Premise: Brain wants to rule the world and he needs Pinky to carry out his dastardly plots. This gets them in all sorts of trouble, but Brain is so smart that even though things constantly go down south, they never get caught so they live to see another day at "Acme Labs" so Brain can plot anew. And plot he did - it never ceases to amaze me with the things the excellent writers came up with for Brain to attempt. And regardless of when or how or how often Brain asks Pinky if he knows what they are going to do today, Pinky NEVER guesses they are going to take over the world - he's content on living his own little insane life - as he likes to say "Narf" whatever that meansSo sit back and enjoy some hysterical animation - your sides will be aching from laughter.

An underrated gem
"Gee Brain, whadda ya wanna do tonight?" "The same thing we do every night, Pinky, try and take over the world!" And with that opening thus begins another adventure of Pinky and The Brain. This is a truly underrated cartoon which is really for the parents as much (if not more so) than the kids. I'm very glad to see this one FINALLY coming out on DVD. Way overdue. Perhaps in life on DVD it will reach the critical mass it really couldn't get when it was run as a kids' cartoon. It would be nice if Amazon had 1/2 star increments as I'd really give this 4 1/2. The only slight against the series is that a lot of the stories were done to things very specific to the mid-late 1990's. Many a send-up of former President Bill Clinton, for example. Not so much of a handicap now, as that period is still in recent memory. but I somehow don't think P&TB will play as well 40 years later as does say 'Rocky & Bullwinkle' some 45 years later. Much of the humor comes from knowing the context of who's being lampooned. That aside, there is enough going on between these two mice to keep you entertained. Heck, watch enough of these and soon "Narf" will be part of your vocabulary. You'll be able to handle crises like "What if the chicken won't wear the nylons?" or, "Brain, you can't expect me to sing a whole opera in Yiddish!" You might even take on the idea of taking over... well, that's a Brainy idea there, isn't it?Well recommended!Poit!!!NARF!!!

Pinky and The Brain, Vol.1
I think I enjoyed this series better as a child. Rewatching it again, yes, I get some of the jokes, but some of them are completely lost on me, while, when younger, it was the childish jokes that really set me off. Now, the series just seems flat. Don't get me wrong, it has its moments (Pinky's letter to Santa had me bawling), but the way I see it, Pinky and the Brain has two stages of enjoyment: A stage where all the jokes fly over your head, and it's the situational humor that makes you laugh, primarily kids, and the stage where it's the secondary humor, the "inside jokes" almost, with all the references, are what brings the funny. I guess I'm somewhere in the middle of that age range, where the jokes don't make sense, since they are aimed at people who were adults/teens at the time I was a kid, and the kid stuff just isn't funny anymore. So, highly recommended for those two groups, but everyone else, you might just want to go for Animaniacs instead?

Who doesn't love Pinky & the Brain?
The producers of Pinky and the Brain faced a challenge when they produced this series: How do you make the gimmick of taking over the world every week and failing entertaining? Poit!Back in the 70s, DC Comics tried to publish a comic featuring The Joker. At the end of every issue the hero who guest starred was dragging the Joker off to jail, and made him a bigger joke than in the 60s TV series. Troz!I have to admit that I didn't know I had to own this DVD collection until I watched it. Narf! It is maybe the funniest tv show, besides Animaniacs, produced in the 90s. Every movie and TV genre is parodied with charm. And the hallmark of a great show is that both kids and adults can enjoy it.Are you pondering what I'm pondering?Maybe it's time for a new Pinky and the Brain series! YES!

Gee Brain, what are we going to do tomorrow night ?
Fantastic collection. I watched this as a kid and when you watch it the second time around as an adult its hilarious!Cartoons aren't what they used to be and this is a testament to the 90's and a world where political correctness was not the order of the day. There is plenty of historical jokes and double entendre to keep the grown ups chuckling and fantastic slap stick humor to keep children laughing as well. The premise is quite simple: 2 laboratory mice whose genes have been spliced...oh what the heck, just watch the opening credits on you tube and it will tell you exactly what its about !This may sound nerdy, but sometimes I sit with my laptop when I watch this show and I pause so I can look up things the cartoon is talking about on Wikipedia and then I get an even bigger laugh because of the clever writing.I promise you that if you hate "cartoons" like "Johnny Test" and "Phineas and Herb" then you are the perfect candidate for this REAL cartoon.

great animated laughs for the whole family
Pinky and the Brain is a hilarious series which unbelievably was able to sustain the same plot-line, of two lab mice plotting to "take over the world", show after varied show, for 3 successful seasons. Kids will love the funny characters, lines, stories, and overall energy, while adults can further laugh at the numerous film, news and personality parodies. The only bonus feature is an interesting 30min. interview retrospective, "Are You Pondering What I'm Pondering?" with vocal stars Rob Paulsen, Maurice LaMarche, and voice director Andrea Romano. (Though the series doesn't seem dated, it might have been nice to have a few commentaries so original kid-fans could now understand some of the parody references.) Fantastically funny!
