Great product and size to protect my placemats! Clear and easy to clean. Placemats are not cheap and a messy eater can instantly ruin one, which ruins the set. Love these and highly recommend them. You can’t really see them over the placemats.

They are very clear but they do scratch easily. That's become appreciable after several days of use

Edited: while I was washing dishes, I went to wash one of these. The hot water warped it immediately. I don't recommend these as dinner placemats. I'm going with silicone instead, even though they are translucent, not clear like these. I will still use these for my kids to draw and write on.I like to use fabric table cloths, so I bought these to protect my tablecloths from my kids' (and mine too, let's face it) messy eating. Pros: They are crystal clear, so don't stand out and you can see the table cloth perfectly through it. The ones I received are exactly 12 x 18 inches, so the description is correct. They are thick and sturdy. Cons: They look like they might scratch easily, and I'm not sure how heat resistant they are, since they are plastic, not silicone. Also, one of the photos make it look like they are pretty flexible, but they are not. They are difficult to bend, and you definitely could not roll them. Also, they are slick so they won't stay in place. I am going to keep them to try them out. If they don't work out for dinner placemats, then they will still be useful. I have been looking for something that my kids can use to make a harder surface for their papers when they draw or write at the dining table or desks. These will work great for that!

Works excellent for my hair color station wall. I used double sided tape and hung 3 vertically for wall protection.

Not entirely transparent, but won't distort under reasonnably hot plate. This is what I was looking for.
