Great Recipes, Terrible Pictures
I just got the book and did a once through of it. The recipes look easy to follow, and there is a nice assortment of recipes from around the world. All in all, i think I'll be happy with this book.The missing star is ENTIRELY because of the pictures. Please, someone tell the photographer to take 2 steps back before taking the pictures. Half of them i can't even tell what I'm looking at because I'm pretty sure the food is touching the camera lens he's so close. Any closer and he would be taking pictures from inside the dumplings. Taken individually, they are very nice close up texture shots. But it's a book entirely about dumplings. One close up texture shot of a dumpling is going to look like every other close up texture shot of a dumpling. What i need is wide shots so i can see the subtle difference between how the different recipes shape and fold the dumplings.

Intriguing
Okay, a disclosure: I am a distant cousin of the author. That said, I love to cook and would be attracted to this book as a foodie and photo junky in any case. The book doesn't disappoint. The photos are both lovely and useful; they let you get the hang of making wrappers from all cultures, baked, steamed, and fried.I started with the mild lamb Cornish pasties for my niece's rooftop wedding party. The recipe worked just as described. A British meal-in-hand, the pasties went well with beer and wine and made a big hit with everybody. I then made the shrimp Chinese dumplings to learn about steaming in bamboo. Fascinating to find myself making a big rope of dough. A big hit at home.The book is full of tips, and a good read. Did you know how useful parchment paper is? How to pinch together an Asian dumpling wrap? How to line your bamboo steamer? (with Chinese cabbage). As a cookbook, it is for the adventurous. As a photo work, it gives you the inside story about an important element of food culture and would do just fine on the coffee table.

Dumplings anyone?
This is exactly what I was looking for - not just a dim sum or Chinese dumpling cookbook. There are so many different, wonderful dumplings to explore! This is an expedition into the world's dumpling domains. I can't wait to start the journey!

I love this book!
I am not going to pretend to be a well established chef, just someone who likes to cook and likes detail. This books works for me. The pictures are helpful, I like the detail and the sidebars which contain brief sauce and dipping recipes. The dumplings, pierogi, piroski, empanada, ravioli and other recipes from around the world are very good. You will find that actual recipes for the dough and the filling will vary when you compare it to website recipes but since this book informs you of the various names of these type of dumplings or pockets( is sure did not know them all), you can look them up on websites and compare and experiment.

Everyone Loves Dumplings
This is the go to book for all things dumplings. I love the descriptions and personal notes that this author added....makes it so interesting to read and inspires me to cook more. It's also interesting that so many cultures have a comfort food dumpling. I'm giving this as a gift to several cooking enthusiasts this holiday season!

Dozens of Dumplings
It's a pretty fun book! The copy itself was worn out and not in the greatest shape, but everything was still legible. It was more than worth it though, because I was surprised to see I got an autographed copy! I really love how the book takes you around the world and includes all varieties of pies, dumplings, stuffed pastas and more. I know what I'll be doing this weekend... Cooking! 😄

My favorite book of things wrapped in dough
I ran across this book when looking for pierogi recipes. Bought it on a whim and it's become my favorite cookbook and my favorite cooking. My family and friends benefit from the steady stream of gyoza, pierogi and samosa out of my kitchen. Thanks Brian!

A wonderful cookbook
