Lace low boot Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

Liking them more and more by the day
I like these boots more and more alls the time. At first, they were pressing on my upper foot too much. I wasn't sure I liked them at all, and considered sending them back ( and I never send things back). I'm not a big shoe/boot person. These Docs are my 4th pair that I own. Along with some nike running shoes, cabelas hiker$ and tall winter boots.Welp, I feel glad that I gived these puppies a chance. They've broken in very well, with minimal use. And they look swell. Just real swell. The heel must be adding about an inch and a half to my height. I'm 5'11", and I can certainly perceive that these shoes take me over 6 feet tall. They have become very comfortable... But as an aside, I always recommend using 'darn tough' socks in any kind of footwear. Try the right pair and you'll know what I mean. When pressed on the ground, my feet are 10 inches long from heel to big toenail. And approx 4 inches wide from the little toe joint to the big one. So 10 x 4 length by width. The US size 10 fits perfectly. I really enjoy wearing these shoes.Long story short, I think I got a new fave pair of shoes for sixty five clams, shipped. I wouldn't pay over 75 for them though. And over 100? Get out of town. But these here diegos look right, feel right and cost right. Wheth or not they hold up right is yet to be learned by me. They feel like they will.

These Docs Rock!
My husband is a railroad worker who has to wear special work boots. Recently he was supplied some from his employer and he hated them and asked for doc martens. He had a pair for five years and wanted new ones that had a hiker look, not a work boot look. He loved the old ones and loved these new ones. He does a lot of walking in all sorts of weather and over train tracks, stones, etc. and is amazed at how cushioned these feel. His company issued red wing boots are uncomfortable yet these are not. He wears these everywhere and quite literally stands by this product ha ha. They are not black but deep brown, but who cares when you get this kind of comfort and they look like a hiker. Also come with a second pair of dark brown laces, well crafted too. Caution, I don't think these are steel toed or an OSHA authorized work boot. They still are a comfortable well crafted boot that holds up against the elements and can be worn for long hours on rough terrain, but not sure based on product description if they would be approved for work so check with your employer. I just bought them as a everyday pair for husband.

Typical docs. Good and bad.
Fit. They fit a little loose, but they always have for me (15 years of purchases). I always add a high quality insole and problem solved. I have no arches, so these are perfect for me.Quality. I bought these for my job (I.T.) for moderate-lite work use. Desk job with some heavy lifting and desk plunging. But I bought these and spent two hard days using them for outdoor work to break them in. They were tough (great) and you can see they cleaned back up very well.Color. They match my faded black belt just fine. They're not jet black. But, like I said, they match my old belt perfectly so I don't care.As always, the slip resistance is ridiculous. I no longer have to wipe my feet for 30 seconds when walking in from the rain onto a waxed floor.

Nice boot.
I originally ordered a 9 because Dr. Martens have no half size and I am a 10 in normal shoes and a 9 1/2 or 9 in most boots. The boot came and my toe was barely touching the front. I am a firefighter and am on my feet all day and need a comfy boot that I can get on and off quickly. So I returned them for a size 10. They were a bit big so I went and bought some insoles and put them in. Now they feel almost like an athletic show. Without the insoles they are still very comfortable as they are Dr. Martens. The color is a bit light and can have gray or brown overtones but a little black shoe polish and now they are a beautiful black.

Stylish, durable, perfect fit!
This is my first pair of Docs. I'm really impressed with them! They look great and appear to be made with top quality materials. The cut of the boot fits my feet perfectly. Most boots I get are too wide in the middle, but pinch my toes together. These are shaped just like my foot. Like another reviewer said, these boots aren't really black, they're a really dark brown. I feel like they're dark enough that they can be worn with black clothes. You could probably make them black with enough shoe polish, but I like them the way they are, so I haven't tried that. I was particularly impressed with the way the sole grips on wet pavement. While walking in the rain yesterday, I felt as though I couldn't slip if I tried. I had considered using them as work boots, and there's no reason I couldn't, but they look so good with the jeans I wear when I go out, I don't want to get any scuff marks on them.

Love 'em!
First things first, these shows are not black, they are more like espresso, they look brown in certain light, and they look blackish in other light. The mostly look black to me except when it's really bright light. Nonetheless, I love them, I hate brown and everything I own is black, but it matches with everything I wear. I love how they look. It took a bit to break them in, and I don't usually lace it up all the way (when it is laced all the way - it's a little uncomfortable around my ankles, but that might change once I break them in more), but they are very comfortable for boots. If you are debating getting them or not, I am so glad I pulled the trigger and have no regrets. My wife loves the look of them too. If a woman judges you buy your shoes then she will probably think you are a badass with these. My old docs lasted me 5 years.

The Real Deal
In previous comments it was suggested these could be fakes. If they are? they did an awesome job making the shoe box look real and also the tissue paper had Crosses on it all over. The boots have all the markings. Boots 🥾 are awesome.

Comodidad
Me gusta su comodidad. No me gusto que no tenga casquillo. Se utiliza para trabajos industriales. En general super bien.

Was as expected.
Bought one size larger than I normally buy. Fits good with alittle room. Good quality. Not good for walking on snow and ice( but all doc martins are like that).

Good
Had a pair years ago that I payed $250 for. These are the same just cheaper. Not fake as far as I can tell.
