Deserves the Great Taste Award
1. The warm delicate spice in this was such a pleasant surprise, I added sweetener to my own taste and I’m honestly addicted. I even added some to my protein shake to spice it up2. The cocoa is really good quality, no lumps or artificial taste3. Also really good in some cookies or brownies!!

Straightforward but satisfying hot chocolate with a mild cinnamon twist
When I first read “4 spice”, my first thought that this would be a very spicy hot chocolate, as though 4 was a measurement of hotness. It’s definitely not hot in the spicy sense though, far from it. With four different mild spices, the result is a lovely hot chocolate that nobody is likely to find too spicy. The combination of spices does feel a little bit familiar, especially if you drink Pukka teas for example, and not as “Caribbean” as I expected- if anything, more Eastern than that. There’s cinnamon and cloves that are definitely noticeable in the flavour, and the nutmeg comes through too. In a taste test I doubt I would have been able to identify the fennel, and I might have wondered whether there’s a hint of turmeric in there, but there isn’t- though the lack of a staining orange colour should probably have given that away.Preparation is very simple. The instructions say to stir in “a spoon of cocoa”, and they definitely mean a TEASPOON not any larger spoon. Compared to a common brand like Cadbury’s, you need a bit less of this powder than you’d expected to make a good strong flavourful mug. It doesn’t look like much initially when you pour it in, but as soon as you start stirring, the milk turns chocolatey very quickly.Using a non-heaped teaspoon is also the only way you’ll get 35 servings out of this pack, as it’s really quite small, and I doubt I’ll get the full 35 out of it. The manufacturers seem to have avoided putting a weight value on the packet, perhaps because they realised that it would make it sound very small, which it is- far smaller than I expected. But because it’s so strong, the value of it for the current asking price of seven quid is not bad.I was expecting a slightly more exotic mix of flavours and maybe something with a bit more kick- and I was also expecting a bigger packet. But if you like the idea of having a hint of cinnamon in your hot chocolate, chai style, then you are likely to enjoy this, and for the flavour I very nearly gave it five stars.

Strong spice taste
This hot chocolate powder has a really strong spice flavour and taste/smell.It's not for everyone for sure, but if you like cinnamon and nutmeg mixed with chocolate, this one is for you! It dissolves easily in hot milk and creates a silk and smooth texture, really tasty. The flavour reminded me of winter - spiced(mulled) wine

Not very good
This hot chocolate is not very good, it's essentially just cocoa powder with some spices, the spices aren't prominent enough and since it's just cocoa powder it tastes bitter and 'dusty'. Wouldn't recommend this

Good
a hot chocolate option that pleasantly surprised me with its unique flavour profile and healthier qualities. This hot chocolate is a departure from the usual overly sweet varieties, making it a great choice for those who prefer a less sugary drink.First and foremost, this hot chocolate is not particularly sweet, so it's important to note that if you have a big sweet tooth, it may not be the best fit for you. However, for those seeking a more balanced and nuanced taste experience, this hot chocolate delivers. What sets it apart is its slightly spicy flavour, which adds a delightful twist to traditional hot chocolate. The inclusion of spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, fennel, and cloves gives it a unique and enjoyable aroma that enhances the overall experience. One of the standout features of this hot chocolate is its reduced sweetness, which also contributes to its healthiness. While I wouldn't classify it as a completely healthy drink, it's certainly a better option compared to most hot chocolates I've tried in the past. This makes it a great choice for individuals who want to indulge in a warm, comforting beverage without overloading with sugar. When it comes to preparing this hot chocolate, you'll be pleased to know that a little goes a long way. With its rich flavours and concentrated nature, just one teaspoon of powder is sufficient to create a delicious mug of hot milk. Initially, I was sceptical about such a small amount, as I was accustomed to using more powder for a bolder taste. However, I quickly discovered that this hot chocolate is designed to be enjoyed more moderately, and the recommended serving size perfectly balances the flavours. The packaging of this hot chocolate is also worth mentioning. The pack contains a generous amount of powder, offering approximately 35 servings according to the packaging. This is a commendable quantity, ensuring that you can enjoy this hot chocolate over an extended period without worrying about running out too soon. Additionally, the resealable feature of the pack is a thoughtful touch, as it helps to keep the powder fresh and dry, maintaining its quality for longer.
