Definitely worth the $60, not perfect (READ FOR TIPS)
I read the POLARIZING reviews on this shelf and was curious what I'd get. Here are my takeaways:- EASY TO ASSEMBLE: I didn't find it hard to put together at all. I did use Amazon photos to fill in what the paper directions were alluding to, but after I understood the basics, it went up easily. I didn't need more than myself and didn't even have a rubber mallet, so I used a rag and hammer. I was even wine-tipsy while assembling, and it all worked out: fun Friday night!- SOMEWHAT SECURE: The biggest problem I had was something echoed in the reviews: hammering one end in for the other to pop out like whack-a-mole. I also read one customer warning to not build it in one place then try to move it, or it would fall apart. I heeded that and began building in its final place. I also started adding my heavy objects to the shelves as I assembled them. I thought it would help keep everything in place as I continued to pound in shelves, and that worked well. As far as strength, I have VERY heavy silicon molds and supplies-filled storage drawers that are being held with 0 problem. No bowing, no tipping: the integrity of the shelf is solid.- GOOD VALUE: this wasn't nearly as expensive as some of the industrial shelves on Amazon. The only problem in my eyes are the shelves that might easily pop out during construction, but once you have items on it, gravity should do that job.

Muscle Rack 5 Shelf Unit - 30" x 60" x 12" in Red...
I've been using these types of shelves for years. Muscle Rack brand is in the garage right now. I bought the red ones to match my Craftsman stuff and while the color isn't exact, it's close enough for my needs. They go together with ease and maybe because I've put together so many over the years, I just don't fret the assembly any more. There were bent ones and I learn to work with/around the issue. A nice mallet makes a ton of difference in the assembly. For me, I do the bottom shelf, the top and then the middle. These shelves had a cool attachment for the uprights. Wish I had gotten those with some of my other shelves. I wouldn't put hundreds pounds of weight on these but they're doing exactly what I wanted them to do.The only issue I have is not really with the shelves. Since I bought these a couple days ago (from Amazon), other "buyers" have purchased these and put them back on Amazon under their own "business names" for $20 or higher. Too bad, I would've bought some more but not for the prices they're listed for now. Thanks Muscle Rack for making a decent product that doesn't cost a fortune but does what I need it to do, store a lot of stuff on shelves.

Cool industrial look - dorm room sized.
Make sure you pay attention to the dimensions listed. I bet a lot of people are disappointed. I needed this exact size so it works for me. Also, follow the instructions and build from the bottom up. As you build it the brackets help keep it squareish as you move up. Be prepared for much "light tapings" with a rubber mallet. If you have put together a tab and slot shelf like this before you know what you're getting yourself into... this is probably a little worse than you remember. I bought it for its size and for the joining bracket which meant I did not have to use a shelf to join the upper and lower portions.

Ass'y a snap for single 70+ yr old (& end cap sol'n)
I was looking for sturdy utility shelving (mainly for books) that wouldn't totally look like left-over warehouse units. These fit the space perfectly &, while not decorative, the red shelf frames bridged the decor gap. But the promised ease of assembly was what decided me over what would otherwise have been my first choice:: the chromed wire shelves with tubular uprights whose shelves are adjusted by clamping two-piece support brackets around the legs. I have a small set, they are very sturdy as well as being attractive, but OMG are they a pain to assemble! One minor complaint frequently mentioned was that the protective end caps for the uprights fall off easily. They absolutely do. But it's easily solved by folding a double layer of permanent double-sided 'scotch' tape over the angle ends before still easily sliding on the caps. Voila, they are secured. The only reservation I have about these shelves is that the coupling for stacking the uprights blocks a couple of holes for the shelf-adjustment system. However, this wasn't a major issue for the spacing I wanted to use.

In my best scorpion impression... "Finish it!"
essentially the designers of this shelf ran the football 3 yeads shy of the goal, spiked the ball and walked off the field. This shelf would have been excellent if it worked right out of the box. Being a DIY maker, I was going to weld a shelf like this until I found this shelf, which saved me a lot of time. It is sturdy, the gauge of the metal was sufficient (not as thick as Costco shelving metal) and it was easy to put together. However, keeping it together was a problem. The pegs are held in place by friction and the friking friction doesnt always do. I had to cut wooden pegs to stick into the holes to prevent the pegs from releasing the shelf again. Not a huge deal, but these problems should have been solved out of the box. The materials used to make the shelf are good, the design was lacking. So be prepared to do some extra work if you buy this.

Perfect for my small laundry room!
I was looking for a narrow shelving unit for storage in our tiny laundry room. FINALLY came across this one and it is perfect. Only 12" deep, I can still open the dryer door. It was easy to assemble with 2 people and seems to be well-made. I am using it as extra pantry space with some small appliances on the bottom and some canned goods and dry goods on the other shelves. The top shelf is perfect for our insulated lunch bags and food wrap boxes. Very happy with this item and love the red color.
