great nav lights
I have a bow navigation light on my boat already, but the trolling motor I have blocks out the one side of it. I was looking at a way to mount one on a post so it sticks up over the motor, but these lights offer a better solution. I only plan to use one for each side as they are plenty bright in addition to the original bow light. The wires are just long enough for me to wire directly to the existing light without sticking out too much. These will be great on my boat.

Tested and Works Great
Nav lights are really bright and easy to use. Tested them out before installation and it was very easy to do (I watched an experienced boat person do it and it looked super easy). Very bright and perfect for any boat

I DON'T HAVE A BOAT!
The media could not be loaded. I could have gone and bought a boat to put these lights on, but that would have been the easy thing to do. Instead, I am in the process of running wires under my driveway to run 12 volt power to the poles on the chain link fence that the gates mount on. I wanted to mount these lights on the poles so I can see where the poles are in bad weather. I am 2 blocks from the beach, so the nautical theme will fit right in. "Red Right Return" is the term for boaters, so the red ones will be on the right side. No one else has anything like this- so why not? I added resistors to the lights because these things are BRIGHT. I will get more use out of them while running them dimmer, and the neighbors won't complain about the lights being too bright. I played around with some resistors to get the brightness even between the green and red strips, and settled on roughly 55 ohms on the red strip, and roughly 110 ohms on the green strip. Without any resistors, these light strips are obnoxiously bright. I only had a bunch of 220 ohm - 1/4 watt resistors, so I tied 4 in parallel for the red strip, and 2 in parallel for the green strip. They don't get hot, barely warm. Power will be supplied from a 12v 6 amp jumbo supply from Amazon, so I can upgrade more light strips on the edge of the driveway in the future. Solar lights became a bother due to the tall pine trees and battery issues after a year on my previous lights along the 200' driveway. The lights are sealed, but the end caps could use some extra silicone all the way around it for total waterproofing, and where the wires run in. I measured 1 green strip pulling 0.44 amps at 12.3vdc volts, and the red strip was pulling 0.41 amps at 12.3vdc. So roughly 1/2 amp per light strip on full brightness. Great lights, super bright and mostly waterproof. But now I have to get back to the driveway. Maybe a boat purchase would have been easier.
