Great for toe injuries.
I bought this for my wife since she broke her toe before our trip to Hawaii where we had planned on doing a lot of walking. I work in a medical field and spring steel inserts are used with athletes all the time for turf toe, broken toes, etc. These types of inserts allow your foot to move and flex to a certain degree that is natural, but the spring steel distributes the forces more evenly and reduces stress on individual toes. I did not have any inserts the correct size for my wife in our clinic, and I was unable to get then ordered from my vendor in time. Amazon prime to the rescue! The quality of these inserts is equal to what I get from my medical supply vendors. The inserts held up in mud and rain with no issues. The covers stayed adhered to the metal even when muddy and wet. Sizing was accurate. While these were more expensive than the spring steel inserts I typically use by about 15%, I can definitely recommend them as a solid Amazon purchase.

Not impressed since the product listing does not show size ...
Not impressed since the product listing does not show size and incorrectly assumed large and cut down. Nope- the item doesn't indicate size and I got a size 5 and I am an 11.UPDATE: After about 15 minutes of looking around, turns out the size info is listed but in not easy place to find in the technical information for the individual postings. Rather than having this item done on one posting that allows you to then select the size, you have to go through each of the postings, piece together what the size options are, and then select the right one. Unlike even other inserts where the size is listed boldly in the title at least (if they don't provide a single listing that allows you to select the size), this one can be easily missed. For instance, I missed the small notation hidden in the post and got a size 5, when mine is size 10 or 11. If I end up getting the better size and use them I can give an indication if they work, but wanted to WARN people about this size problem on the website.

The plates separate from the insole pretty much immediately
The plates separate from the insole pretty much immediately, but they're under the insole so it's not a problem for me.They add a lot of thickness to my shoes, so I had to remove the bottom liner that came with the shoes in order to fit into my shoes.

Five Stars
A great alternative to buying puncture-resistant boots.

Not good for sesamoiditis
Not good for sesamoiditis. These are like walking on concrete. They do help to keep your shoes from bending when walking but VERY PAINFUL to walk on with a sesamoid injury. They do add a bit more weight to your shoes as well. Would be better if they had a bit of a foam or cushion inside.

Fabric separated from the sole
Unfortunately after 3 times wearing the red part separated from the steel on one side and the other partially separated. I don't recommend--I returned these
