SalewaMen's Pedroc Air Lightweight Breathable Trekking & Hiking Shoe

Well hell! Looking forward to these. I’m a few pairs in!

Needed a non-waterproof sturdy light hiker for a hot weather hiking trip. This fit the bill perfectly. Good ventilation, lightweight, yet sturdy. Salewa's proprietary sole is very grippy and tough. They also have the benefit (in my opinion) of being rarer than the "usual" brands of hiking shoes; they are unique enough that they stand out, and can easily be worn to off-trail events. I'd definitely get another pair of these shoes again.

I like the way these look and fit. Big fan of the brand. That said, the insoles are a joke. My feet were beat after 5 mile hikes until I replaced the insoles with Dr. Scholls Massage Gel Insole Sport Men. Now they’re great. Just understand you’ll need to spend another $20 or more to get ‘em right.

So wanted to give these light hikers a 5 star review but the durability sucks! They are less than 1 month old. I have only worn these to work and the bottom of my jeans has rubbed away the fabric as indicated in the picture. For the price this is entirely unacceptable. The comfort is however great and they are very light. Really wish they would last. I’ll continue to wear them hiking as the weather warms and see how they hold up. Probably would have been fine if worn with shorts but a hem rubbing on these for less than 1 month should not cause this wear. They have very low mileage on them. Sucks!

As the ostensible replacement for the its sibling the Dropline, this shoe is nowhere near as comfortable or stable. It offers decent comfort if you're actively moving, but it becomes very uncomfortable when stopped, due to the midsole being slim and not very cushioned. Even putting a better insole makes no difference. Fit and grip are both good and true to size with my normal shoe size.

I wanted to love this shoe. It is the first shoe I have ever purchased that didn't need breaking in. It felt great immediately. Super impressed.But thenDurability is another problem with this shoe. I wore these shoes casually for 3 months. Zero hiking, and nowhere near a large amount of walking during use. The soles have worn so rapidly, I was shocked. The sole material has broken down and is no longer providing any type of cushion.Also, the cable support system throughout the shoe has failed. The exterior sheath of the cable frayed and now the shoe feels sloppy. Won't wear them anymore.Be aware, these shoes are not durable.
