Impressive research for players who were not hall of famers
Victor Debs has to be somewhat of a magician. When I saw this title I thought the book had to be self published, but I was surprised. Few sports fans could take six good, but not great ball players and get their history sold to a traditional publisher. Victor's writing ability and relentless research makes this book a must read for baseball fans. It was neat to learn how much these Yankees contributed to Yankee lore, especially after the great Yankee teams in the 50's. Mickey Mantle is one of the six and, of course, was great, but the other five are made to look like hall of famers as Victor writes about their careers.Dr. Norman Jones author of Growing Up in Indiana: The Culture & Hoosier Hysteria Revisited.

A great read.A must have book for Yankee fans who lived through the "drought years."Those are the players who helped us get through it.
