This installed easily, and paired up with Home Assistant without issue. It gets recognized as a "switch," which I suppose it sort of is. Anyway, that's all I need is "on/off" functionality.

This device deserves better reviews than what it's getting. It may not clamp attach perfectly right out of the box, but have an imagination. I've ordered 10 of these, had a problem with the gearbox on one of them but other than that, these things rock. They are strong and powerful. I'm not using them for their intended purpose, I use them for something else modified so I can't tell you how they work on a water valve. I've just seen a number of reviews complaining about it not fitting their water pipe, why I say have an imagination and make it fit... it's very doable. They have proven so far to be dependable staying online not dropping off like some Zigbee devices do. Sometimes though the device will report open or closed when it's not so testing the device if it's on or off doesn't prove reliable at times, but found a workaround for that.

Although this might be a good item. This one was faulty, So I returned it. Could not pair with anythingin. The instruction have to be read with a magnafying glass.

I changed my 1 star to 3 stars. Yes, the instructions are poor for pairing it with systems like SmartThings. I got it to pair after finding answer on SmartThings user forum. The key is to hold the power button down until the power button blinks blue and red. Ignore the blue light on the plug. Important; Pair with your system before installing on your plumbing.Does not mount well on main water pipeline.I’m still trying to mount it to my plumbing by using other hardware options.I appreciate the full refund option but I will keep it since it didn’t cost much and there are no other affordable options.

I bought not expecting would have enough torque force to open/close the water valve. Guess what? It actually does!! Integration with Alexa works. WiFi works too!! Two thumbs up!!

Valve actuator works, but the item I received was used with some of the screw heads stripped out. Due to the available time I had to get it installed I made it work, but I am not happy at receiving a used and damaged product. I also had to modify the mounting bracket by shortening the mounting tabs to make it fit for the valve I used (a 3/4” solder-in ball valve from Home Depot, so a fairly standard and common valve). It’s functional but you can see the bracket flex and bend during operation. It’s probably okay for occasional or interim emergency automated use (I.e. it’s better than nothing), but I would not consider it a long term failsafe solution. I’ll continue to look for a better solution while using this in the meantime. Otherwise it connected easily to my SmartThings hub and actuated quickly when activated. I probably would have given it three or even four stars (considering the low price) had I not received a used and damaged unit.
