The popular FeatherBrite 20 watt full spectrum bulb for birds is a QUALITY compact spiral fluorescent bulb manufactured with a standard screw in base; 5500k, 91cri with UVA 5% and UVB .04%. 1450 lumens. It is not dimmable. This bulb is not a heat source, does not get hot (80 degrees directly under the bulb) and no burn in time required. For benefits, bulb should be used between 2 to 8 hours; a timer can be used. Window filtered sunlight is not beneficial to your bird. For maximum benefits for your bird recommend replacing bulb annually as the benefits of full spectrum (UV) dissipate over time. *Use for plant sunlight too.

Not sure how these bulbs are working for my birds ...
Not sure how these bulbs are working for my birds. I have original 1911 windows,so there is no blockage of UVA/B. (pre 1930's).We have 2 sets of these, one for our 8 yr. old Ekkies and the other for our 18 yr. Female AG, she is a feather plucker, was this way when we got her. She still plucks and we use the Aviglow, and these lights. Also No more plucking my King cages... she still plucks...

Larger Size Full Spectrum CFL Light Bulbs
I purchased these full spectrum light bulbs for my parakeets. They work very well and are of good quality and efficiently gove off the right amount of light that caged birds need. My only complaint would be the new larger size that's 20w is an inch or so longer making it stick out past the lamp dome. The original unit fit the reflector dome better without any overhang. I had to prop the dome with a washcloth so the bulb won't contact the cage. The seller told me that Featherbrite now makes an LED model that's less expensive and uses a much lower wattage. I will use these till they no longer work and then switch over for the newer version later. They do work well and make the birds active and get the proper amount of lighting so they stay happy and healthy.
