these seem a good idea for transporting rods, however, the slots are small and can only accommodate thin, lightweight spinning rods.

Not much good.
These don't really work that well. I have another brand that are ball shaped and they're brilliant. These seem to be the wrong shape and only work on thin sections of rod. Dissapointed.
