I bought this mainly for cold smoking my salt cured salmon (gravlax). When you smoke it, it is Nova or simply "cold smoked salmon", but you need to cure it in salt first to remove the fish moisture. Anyway, this product was cheap and easy to turn delicious cured salmon into something even 100x better if that's possible. I use pellets... applewood, cherry, hickory, etc. Find some that are god quality and experiment till you see what you love the most. Getting it started takes about 5 minutes and I use a couple of those all-natural no-gas tumbleweeds on one end (lit underneath the smoker box). Once the box has started and is lit without assistance, I add the fish above on a rack in an enclosed grill type setup. If you know how to use this product right, you can get about the best cold smoking results out there.

I just used this in my pellet smoker and the amount of smoke it added to the meat was unreal. With most pellet smokers you hardly get a smoke taste in your meat but with the Cameron's box I would say it added 25 to 35% more smoke flavor. It’s definitely worth the money

Used this to make smoked spatchcock chicken. Didn't put the lid on ALL the way down as I knew metal SWELLS up when it gets hot. Well, that backfired on me. The lid STILL didn't come off so I could refill it. When you are doing a LONG smoking (I was doing a 3 hour session for this chicken) you do need to refill your smoke chips. The lid does NOT budge until it is completely cooled down. Ended up using a pin tin for the rest of this cook.Note: I had HALF my chips soaked & half dry......I wanted a lot of smoke & no flare up. Even doing that & NOT having this smoke box over a burner that was on, it lasted only 30 min and the box was FILLED.IF you are doing a quick grilling and want that smoke flavor, this is perfect! IF how ever you are doing a LOW & SLOW smoked BBQ, this is not the way to go.

What a show stopper. Charcoal brackets and wood chips will turn that old pellet grill into a BBQ experience. A well made item.

Works exactly like it should. Included are 2 starters they want you to buy more of. I use Coghlans fuel tabs to start the smoker. You can cut the tabs in half and work like a charm. I put some scrap steel in to create a void, then put in about 2/3 of a cup. I didn't measure, but the smoke box probably holds 2 cups of wood chips.

Works as advertised. Creates lots of smoke using pellets.

Great addition to my pellet smoker.
