I was going to leave a low star review, saying that my chickens walk right through it. But I re-read the description first and I see "NOT suitable for poultry and small animals such as chickens and ducks.". So it's my fault for not reading the description and buying the wrong product.Other than the fact that the holes are too big for chickens, the fence seems pretty good. The posts are decently sturdy. Still need to be careful when putting it in if your ground isn't soft, but that will be true of anything with low cost posts. I had a bit of difficulty unrolling the fence, but that was due to my clumsiness and not reading the instructions.Note: I got carried away with my advice below, but if your fence doesn't work well, read it!Other info about getting your electric fence to work well:One reviewer says that their energizer shocks them but the fence doesn't. This is almost certainly a problem with this person's installation. Their pictures show the fence is placed in high grass. This is likely part of their problem. They also might not have a good ground connection.If you want the fence to work properly, first get a good quality energizer (also called charger). If you want to deter large predators, get a very large energizer (I use 2 Joule energizers for bear). More joules will support a longer fence and more accidental ground paths (like grass/bushes/wet wood/moist soil). A fraction of a joule should be enough for a well setup fence to keep small livestock in. More joules will allow you to be sloppier with setup and will deter larger critters.Next make sure you have a good ground at the energizer. Also make sure your ground wire isn't shorted to the fence, this will effectively "turn off" the fence. Many energizers come with a pathetic little 6-8" long piece of metal you are supposed to stick in the ground. This may work if it is well buried in moist soil. But your fence will work better with a better ground rod, like a 4 foot (or longer) copper rod, you can get one from your local hardware store or here on amazon. The reason this is important is that the current from the fence travels through the animal (or human) touching the fence and then into the ground to complete the path back to the energizer. This is why flying birds don't get shocked if they land on an electric fence. If you don't touch the ground, you don't get shocked when you touch the fence. Side note, bigger animals (like humans) have a lot of capacitive coupling to the earth (ground) so they may get shocked even if not touching the ground. But the energizer still needs a good connection to ground to make this work.Next make sure you minimize current paths from the fence to ground. You want the path through the animal to be the only path to ground. If the conductive strands of fence (the green ones) touch the ground, there may be a current path. If the green strands touch grass or other plants, there may be a current path. Every one of these undesired paths leeches power away and before long the fence won't deliver a "zap". If you have to, mow a path through the grass before putting the fence up. Use a weedwacker to cut brush back so it doesn't touch the fence. If you hear zapping noise from the fence, you have arcing to ground. Fix it! The fence should be nearly silent (some light zapping may be unavoidable, this is OK if your energizer is strong enough).If you do these three things, your fence should work well:1. use a quality energizer/charger2. use a good ground3. keep plants/grass/etc from touching green fence strands. Eliminate any ground arcs ("zaps").If your fence isn't working well, I would start with number 3 since its free. Then number 2 because its important. Number one is a last resort if you already have a charger/energizer. The energizer itself isn't likely to be your problem unless its a low joule unit and you just want more zap, or the energizer isn't zapping even right at the energizer.Testing: Start at the output of the energizer and work towards the far end of the fence. Use a piece of moist weed to test the fence so you don't have top touch it directly. The moister the better. Dry grass or weeds won't work. Hold the weed between your fingers with a couple inches extended. When it touches the fence you should get a slight zap. If not, "choke up" on the weed until you are nearly touching the fence directly. This works well with powerful energizers, maybe not so well with wimpy ones (I have very powerful energizers rated at 2 joules because I'm using the fence to deter bears. And yes, the bears run away after getting zapped on the nose by a 2J energizer connected to this fence).

Bought two rolls of this fencing so I could do rotating pastures for my goats. At first I was very pleased with the quality of the fence. It was easy to install and easy to follow the directions. After it was installed, I realized quickly I made a mistake. It says it's good for goats, however, they walk right through it and couldn't care less. I'm now having to kennel them until I can find a better product. Might be better for larger animals that don't like to get shocked but definitely not good for goats.

My husband had this up within minutes & we are able to allow our kids inside to play with the goats & chickens without worry of our animals getting away

Customer service reached out and refunded me for partial of my order. Just still want people to know that the gaps in the fence is not small enough for chickens. great for goats and other livestock.

Installed this in our garden to protect our sweet corn from all the critters that like sweet corn more than us and it has worked better than I could imagine. Even when the weeds started to grow up to the height where the first electrified chord is, it zapped the weeks and killed them. It has kept everything out and we got a mighty harvest for the first time in years! Nice to buy something that works as well as it is advertised. Thank you.

I really loved this fence when I first got it but as time went on the stakes started weakening and eventually broke. I haven't owned it long and now most of the stakes are broken so the fence is useless.If your in town or have soft ground, you'll love it. If you have dry hard ground, this is not the fence for you.

These were less expensive, taller, and better quality then the ones we got at tractor supply. Highly recommend! Great way to keep our livestock in and predators out.
