Q: Can I use these in the shower?

Complete garbage. They don't work well in the shower so they are going to be horrible in it as well

Q: how does it stand to background noise? I work in a kitchen and it's very loud, I'd like earbuds that I can hear over the noise

These get very loud if you position it correctlbut if you are looking to block out the back noise think again. You still will be able to hear your music though.
