Glad I decided not to return it.
I'm a seasoned racquet sports player who has taken up pickleball seriously for the past 6 months. I own over a dozen paddles, and enjoy playing with the various types and sizes. My first impression made me want to return this DGYCASI MAX, but happy I didn't. From my very first handshake I did not like its 4.5" circumference handle, especially its pronounced beveled edges. The tennis converts I know love a fatter handle, but my main sports have been racquetball, table tennis, paddleball, and squash. Therefore, when playing pickleball, a 4.125" to 4.25" grip is much more comfortable in my hand. But the advertised description does say it is a 4.5" grip, so no deception on the company's part. What swayed me to purchase were the great reviews, the high-quality components of the racquet (especially the Toray-700 raw carbon fiber), and the bargain price (especially on Amazon Prime Day).Determined to give the MAX a proper tryout, I decided to apply a very thin overgrip to the handle. Despite increasing its thickness slightly, it smoothed out the edges. Thus, the handle became more rounded, and therefore more plush feeling and easier to hold, like most of my other racquets. So, with renewed vigor, I headed to the courts with my latest customized weapon. From every aspect, the DGYCASI MAX did not disappoint. It looks and feels like a solidly built item. The paddle surfaces are nice and gritty, enhancing my ability to produce excellent topspin on my drives and serves. Sidespin and underspin shots were also effective. The racquet had pop, but was plush enough to make my dinks, blocks, and 3rd shot drops cooperate. Overall, the paddle reminded me of a more powerful Vatic Pro Prism Flash. So, it's a keeper!I should mention that bundled into the price is a neoprene logoed cover. That's a nice bonus, especially since many expensive racquets (like the $250 Joola Perseus or Selkirk Vanguard Power Air Invikta, for example) do not include one (except for an extra charge). However, I do have a minor quibble with the DGYCASI cover. It was a very tight fit, even after my gentle tugging at the corners and stretching on the sides.I checked, and the DGYCASI MAX is definitely approved by USA Pickleball for sanctioned tournament play. I would rate this paddle a solid 4.5 stars, which I am rounding to a 5, based on the company's caring and timely customer support. The owner, YC, contacted me personally to address my questions and concerns. This shows me that DGYCASI, as a company, is concerned about its reputation and clientele. They seem fully vested in the future growth of pickleball, and according to YC will continue to produce quality and value-priced racquets based on customer feedback.

Great paddle for multiple skill levels
I recently used the YC DGYCASI paddle in a local tournament--in the beginners bracket--and it worked well for me as we won the tournament. I'm a lifelong racquetball and ping pong player, so I was looking for the spin element to be a big part of my game, despite being a "beginner". This paddle did not disappoint.Power was okay on the paddle, but I'm just getting used to having to whack the ball so it doesn't just drop in front of me. I am not exactly sure what to expect for power, but the ball doesn't explode off this thing like I see some of them advertising. But this is a control paddle, so I kind of expected that.Spin was relatively good, due to the carbon face being like very fine grit sandpaper. When I really tried having fun with side spins it definitely made people shank it more or miss it altogether. Back spin was tough to get for me, but I think it would be okay. Top spin was pretty decent, my serves were surprisingly good for being so new to the game--my partner asked me to be the first server in every game.Control is good--don't have a comparison of whether it is excellent or not. I could hit line and cross court shots at will, going around or between the players exactly where I wanted to put it. I liked that the paddle is relatively narrower than so many of the recreational paddles we have accumulated--way less dead area on the paddle, leaving more "sweet spot" as a percent of the surface area.My partner is interested in getting this paddle, so that's a recommendation of how good it is for a competitive 'beginner'.

Add spin to your game, control the pace of the ball.
I switched for a basic fiberglass paddle to this one and even my teammates noticed the difference in my game. I was able to control the pace of the ball, add more topspin and picking up smashes was a lot easier. Off course you need fitness, footwork and hand eye coordination to improve your game but never realized that by just switching from fiberglass to this Carbon Fiber paddle automatically it will help to control the ball better. If you do not want to buy expensive CF paddles but would like to buy a good quality pickleball paddle, this is a good choice.

Excellent paddle, excellent price. No USAPA Approved marking though.
I was looking for this type of paddle but I hesistant to invest in those more expensive and common paddles. Also, my skills is still not worthy of a $200 paddle. This paddle looks like one of those but at a more affordable price. The paddle seems to be well built. A very good quality paddle. The cover is of good quality as well.Coming from using a Diadem Icon, this paddle has a little less power but has more control. I have used the paddle a few times and I felt that I am able to control the ball more and place it where I want. The cons of this paddle is that the face easily attracts dirt after each use. I guess this is common for this type of material because I have seen similar paddles that are dirty. But it can be easily be cleaned with one of those sandpaper belt eraser cleaner.I am very happy with this paddle.Update : Need to take 1 star off this review. First, the paddle does not come with a USAPA Approved marking. Even the product description says it's USAPA approved. Due to this, I was not able to use the paddle in tournaments. Second, I ended up replacing the grip. The paddle came with a ridge style grip. I replaced it with a smooth, ridge-less grip.

Great paddle for the price
I've been playing for over 5 years and always searching for the "perfect" paddle. I've tried Onyx, Selkirk and Engage, bought a few other paddles but none felt quite right. This one hit the right spot. The positives - the handle is a good length, on the thick side so may not be good for small hands and has a slightly spongy feeling. The face has a textured surface, creating an excellent spin. Even when contact with the ball is off-centre, there is still the power needed to complete the shot. There is a feeling of excellent control. It was surprising to find the paddle was lighter than expected. I usually use an 8 oz paddle and this felt slightly lighter. The downside is a slight loss of power. Not significant considering the increase in control. If showing up on a court with a brand name is important, then this is not for you. However, if you want a quality paddle that rivals the "big boys", this is your best buy

Better than expected
So I just picked up pickleball in the last 6 months. I don't normally write reviews but had to for this one. My wife and I bought the Costco combo pack of entry level Selkirk paddles. They were good for what they were but thought it was time to upgrade as I really enjoy the game. I wanted a paddle with more spin capability. I dont care about raw power, its about placement of the ball for me. Searched a list of best spin rackets in 2023 but also wanted a good price. I'm not spending over 200.00 on a racket no matter what. This racket came up number 6 on the spin list and was on sale and an Amazon choice. Read the reviews which were mostly positive so bought it. I tried it for the first time yesterday and let me tell you, i was shocked. I was hard spinning shots from 12 oclock to 6 oclock just over the net hard or to back of court on far lobs. It almost feels like im catching the ball with this racket. The abrasive surface spins the ball incredibly well. The handle is also half an inch longer than my previous one which is huge for my hand size.. feels great. The head itself is twice as thick as mine but still feels the same weight or lighter. My buddy who we play against is going to buy one i think as he was impressed with it as well. All in all for the price and what i was looking for, this racket is fantastic.

Like this paddle. This one is a keeper!
This paddle has it all. Thermoformed, carbon fibre face, and even a nice cover. Light weight, great feel, good spin and a nice punch, while still being soft enough for gentle returns.Exactly as advertised on the site. I would recommend this paddle and make this purchase again!K
